This guy, just as he put in his own words, "soiled hmself".

What a nasty comment, after all the forum is his business. He's lost it.

I guess the want ads, plus the forum sponsors, plus the $175x40=$7000 (for the marketplace banners) a month is not enough to cover expenses.

Add to it all the restrictions and sensorship. Otherwise it's not that bad.

haha I hated dealing with Gary when I was a forum sponsor, it was all about the paycheck to him. He agreed to do a month-by-month deal for us, as we weren't sure we wanted to spend the $175 a month. When we finally said we didn't wan't to continue he flipped out and wrote a nasty email and made sure to strip me of all my rev2red.com references and to close all my threads in the sponsor section.

"It's our own fault for not supporting this forum enough (with $$$). Learn to live with it!" - I guess this dude has no idea haow much money Gary is making.

The ads are seriously annoying and I'm sure there is a high percentage of people that agree. Being a muckraker and starting a poll would be good for laughs.

I can't believe his statement on ad blockers...

The longer I hang out around here, the more I grow to dislike m.net. And to think, I used to like it there...maybe this place is soiling us?

They do have a bunch of members...tough to satisfy them all...

WOW, I've never heard anything like that.
One thing is certain, I'll never go there for anything ever again.
I wonder if Gary would open his books. You know, let us see exactly how much it costs to "run" the website. It's just bandwith and server space, right? How much does that cost for a site that big on a monthly basis?

But I really can't agree about the "stealing" thing. If he's going to force the sponsors down our throats, then I just won't go there anymore. I'm done with that place on principle.

I agree. The intrusive adds, when coupled with the paid buy and sell forums really makes the miata.net management seem greedy. (Athough the individual members have been very helpful.) Mind if a slow naturally aspirated 90 hangs out here?

Matt, you may find that the longer you hang out here, the more you'll be itching to go for boost, until one day you make the dreaded (read wonderful) decision to buy your first turbo part. My story in a nutshell.

Looks like I'm a thief and am beneath contempt.

BTW, I used to be in the telecom biz and a T1 line and a server costs a whole lot less than $7000.

No wonder I was banned for trying to say that BRP aka Brant was a thief and a liar. What a putz.

Fritch, I've always liked you even though you're a turbo guy (j/k), now I know why. I'm gonna go have a beer and toast you my friend.

yeah he is abit pompous i think he is probably looking for a way out retirement. In that case he should sell the forum or something instead of ramping up his profit in the last years and trying to secure a bigger nest egg.

and btw over the past year I've been banned and unbanned 3 times there because I didn't agree with the moderators condescending views on things.

and as for him banning people using adblockers... it aint possible

besides I just did this to take care of it and after I posted that I could get rid of them for free, the PMs started flying in my box how to do it lol:

Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\ HOSTS
Open the Hosts file with note pad, add this to the bottom of the hosts file then save the file.

Copy and Paste this:

127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

Talk about sleezy. What this amounts too is extortion plain and simple. Start adding 'features' to the forum that make it annoying, then down the road offer people the chance to pay for the 'features' to go away.

What people like Gary don't get is that the forum is nothing with out it's members. He's making money on the backs of those that contribute. Granted everyone needs a place to come together and it is helpful that the information is organized. I've never read the TOS, but my guess is that Gary owns every post ever made on Miata.net.

It's really bad form to come out and attack your members.

One reason I quit posting there (and mazda-speed) was all the nutswingers who would hang on someone's word (or Johnson, take your pick) adn if you said something different they would beat you like a red-headed stepchild. Plus this site rocks.....
