My new island beater... '93 Pathfinder XE 4x4
 

Sorry pics suck at night... I take possession of it next weekend when he leaves the island. It's gonna get a bath in every Meguires product there is, and I'm already looking for some interior bits that are missing. The good news is that somebody on this island is parting out a Pathfinder practically weekly.
It had some rust on the roof that the previous owner took care of semi-properly with lots of bondo and paint-on bedliner. It'll be solid for way more years than I'll own it.
There are no interior leaks to the cab, but the lower parts of some window frames allow water to enter the doors in the rain. This truck has been on the dry side of the island for many years where that's not as big a factor as you'd think. In any case, all the doors are solid.
Owner has a legit factory repair manual and a book of maintenance records.
170k miles.
4wd works great.
AC blows cold enough.
Tires have 5k miles on them and are nice BFG's.
No rust on the body and very little rust anywhere... but kinda deceptive because all the dirt on the island is exactly the color of rust.

The good new is that other than a stereo, I could probably do nothing at all to it, and in 30 months, sell it for the $1500 I paid for it.

At least I've finally got a project!

Better daytime pic. I'm hoping there is something I can do to bring the paint back around. I'm not interested in bedliner'ing the whole thing.

Nice, that's straight out of Nissan's glory days when they had a whole showroom full of *really* good products.

Id pull those seats and power wash the carpet, suck it all out, then leave the doors open with a fan for a couple of days. This looks like it needs a cheap DIY paint job. Nice truck though, should be fun. Pics of it off roading when you get a chance.

Getting started. So far, exactly as I expected as I start pulling the interior. A couple usual suspect places where rust is winning, but otherwise, the floor is fine. I suspect there will be a few spots in the front footwells as well when I get there.

I'm gonna rough sand, vaccum, and clean the floor, then hit the whole thing with a converter paint and be done with it, except for the holes.

How do I fix those holes? I've watched a couple YT videos that I like the look of. One guy uses POR15 and fiberglass cloth that I really like. Getting POR15 out here is not in the cards, so is there anything I can get at a small rural NAPA that might be a substitute? Remember, this is an island beater, and I really only need to make it better than it was before. I'm also pretty sure that I can get at the holes it from underneath with a spray can, but I'm not dropping the gas tank, so I'll hit whatever I can from below after I patch it and call it a day.

Also wired for a sub at some point... cable is good for 200 watts or so, which means it's gotta go! I hope I find the ends of the turn-on lead and signal line actually routed to the back of the stereo and not chopped halfway somewhere.

Do you have a Harbor Freight? A low cost gasless MIG and some plate is the better way to fix it. You could also do metal, sheet screws, and some rubberized truck bed coating top and bottom.
