Name that AirResearch Turbo
AiResearch TO4
Compressor SCC A/R .60 Turbine A/R 1.32 (HOLY CRAP HUGEMONGO) Model Tag: TO4B1 I have no idea where it came from but I'll take some pictures tomorrow. I'm assuming it came from a tractor or something. The turbine housing isn't a 3 bolt or anything like that, it also isn't a v-band, its some recessed flange. Just checking to see if anyone knows anything about this kind of turbo. |
Supra :dunno: 1999 miata with built motor  time to make antilaga reality with that thing.
|
I have seem them with the rx7 crowd, but with 1.00 a/r. You weld a v band onto the housing.
You might be able to find a smaller turbine housing for it... (and a larger motor) |
inline 6 motor from a small airplane.
|
Yeah I thought I'd ask if anyone had seen such a huge turbine housing around on anything common. Not because I want to use such a thing but because I would rather just clean it up and sell it off. I'd like to make boost before 5k RPM. ;)
Thanks for some of the info. |
If i rember correctly you make boost around 5K now what is an extra 1K  solid lifters just throw in some tougher springs and go to 9K ;)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting and they do use airresearch in a lot of airplanes. http://i12.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/a0/ea/ed54_3.JPG |
airplanes BTW don't often turbocharge, a lot of them turbo normalize. Some of them have manual wastegates that the pilot has to set for manifold pressure and adjust as you climb. FWIW.
Not to say that some don't turbocharge, just that a lot don't. |
