Need help with finding parts on Digikey, PLEASE!!!
My transmitter for my underground dog fence crapped out on Friday. I desoldered the 2 components that I found were bad. 1 was a capacitor and the other was a transistor. The numbers I got off the parts are as follows.
The capacitor read: Jimson 104k250v The transistor read: 2N 5401 Y-F33 How do I look these items up on digikey or anywhere else?? |

The transistor is a 2N5401 The capacitor is a 0.1 uF 250V, 10% tolerance However depending on where in a circuit it is, the capacitor may need to be a specific type (e.g. ceramic, polyester, polypropylene). A nice closeup photo would help. How do you know these parts are bad? |

Thanks for your parts translation. I'll try to get some photos by lunchtime. |

Here's the photos after I removed the parts. Could someone shed some more light on what I'm looking at? The capacitor didn't have any numbers on it, so I got the numbers off the cap in the photo that is still on the board. I figured it'd be the same since it was right behind the defective one. Same story with the transistor...

The first photo is a polyester aka mylar capacitor. How do you know the blowed up capacitor is the same type?
The transistor is a TO-92 package. |
