Nerf rambling/mods

So I signed up to play a game of Human vs. Zombies (HvZ) with a friend of mine who's played before and said it was a lot of fun(starts next week). I picked up a Rapidstrike CS-18 on Sunday and given who I am, I couldn't just leave it stock, so I promptly followed this guide to rewire/remove safeties/upgrade switches/move to lipo batteries.

(sorry for the potato pic, this was DL'd from hangouts which downgrades pics, yes that is TXL wiring going in a nerf gun)

With just these mods done, it fires a fair bit faster, is much louder, and hurts just a little bit to be shot with. I think powerwise this is probably about all I should do or else people playing HvZ will complain.

But that means there's all kinds of other mods that I can do now! Inspired by this build thread, I sat down and played about with a TFT display and some IR break beam sensors I had laying around(benefits of being a hoarder!) and got this working this evening.

I'll probably try to integrate it into the cs-18 tomorrow evening. I still need to add mag present and mag empty sensors to reset the count and alert me when it's empty. Eventually I might end up moving to h-bridge control of the motors so I could convert it to selectable fire mode control.

Yes, this is taking away time that could otherwise be spent on the exofish or my nb or my truck :dealwithit:. But I can also do it in the evening inside and call it hanging out with the GF time (she's playing the uke in the video above).

Anyone else fall down this seeming rather deep rabbit hole?

Given the 100's of views and no responses I'll assume you're all afraid to admit how cool this is. As such I will now post another video of what I got done today, in order to awe you all into submission, at which point you will overwhelm me with :likecat: :likecat: :likecat:

And with no further ado, I give you a huge waste of time that still makes me smile.

No.
But we went to visit a friend of mine in Santa Cruz a month ago and him/his kid have a bunch of these, and we played, and I was shocked at how much I liked it.

So yeah, once my kid is over 3-4 we're gonna likely get into this :)
