So, MT.nutters, I'm about to have to finalize registration for the quarter. Looks like Fall Quarter is going to be a regular calc/physics/and one other class which has to be a bullshit humanities. I'm trying to take a 101 that fulfills the bullshit requirement.

So far, I have options of "Women's Studies" and "Indian Studies". I'm thinking Women's Studies would be superior, but throw me some ideas.

P.S. I want to stick with 101-level, and not take some bullshit 300 or 400-level course just to be able to enter my Master's program.

On a slightly more serious note, I vote "Indian Studies" because I assume its American Indian related. I work with the tribes weekly and I can never hear enough about their way of life prior to "assimilation". I can go on and on about cool facts.

Why the hell isn't there a "white man" studies? No women, minorities or feel-good bull, just an honest look at the contributions of white men throughout history. I am so sick of being made to feel that being a white male in America is somehow supposed to be evil or something to be ashamed of.

Downside is after a bit of research, it's for a degree that is only offered to native americans (wtf? srsly!) so that bodes poorly for prospects. Women's Studies it is. As a bonus, Women's Studies only meets three times a week.

I would caution against taking any sort of Women's Studies class unless you want to find yourself changing Subaru Forester brakes all semester.

Have you looked into the possibility of a Human Sexuality class or something of the sort? Those classes always draw out good looking girls.

Ah, humanities.

Have you already done any Classics courses? At my school those involved Greek mythology and Roman history. I think Myth107 was my favorite humanity ever.

Art is humanity. Take a beginning drawing class or something?

English is usually also considered humanity. Creative writing is fun and easy and so are the chicks in those classes.

To finish my BS, I took Art History. I needed just one humanity that last semester, so that's what I chose. I loved it. You look at paintings all day in class and then identify them on tests. My mind works that way, so I got As.

Anything's gotta be better than women's studies. Unless you drive a Forester already.

You seem like you would be perfect for a "World Religions 101" or "Comparative Religions" type of class. How are there are only those two options available? Just schedule or pre-req conflicts?

Unfortunately, the class is to fulfill a retarded "Gender and Cultural Diversity" requirement my previous degree did not possess. This means classics are right out.

I could take a class on 1877 to the Obama Administration: African American History, but that's about as close to what were suggested that are valid for the requirement.

Unfortunately, the only 101 classes that fulfill the requirement are Intro to Indian (feather-not-dot) studies , Intro to Chicano Culture, and Intro to Women's Studies. The rest are 300 and 400-level courses which I'm not particularly interested in taking for obvious reasons. I mean, I could take a 400-level Gay Lesbian and Bisexual culture. I own a Miata, it must mean I'm an expert at it!

Scrappy, I'd love to take a class like that, but unfortunately it does not fulfill the requirement.

Pushy, that's great advice. Unfortunately, those classes don't fulfill the requirement according to the registration site, which makes me very sad in the pants.

are classes currently in session? you're working on your fall schedule, right?

if classes are in session at the moment, I would recommend visiting one of the current lectures, both to get an idea of the demographic of the classes (perhaps the most important) and what the work looks like.

have you ever used ratemyprofessors.com or w/e that site is? sometimes you need to weed through the bullshit to find honest reviews but it's a good resource

thanks for the link to rate my professor, from what i have browsed. the reviews are just about spot on. good luck with the bs humanities, i just finished 2 of 2 and hated every minute of it. easyish classes depending on the professor, just tedious and easy to sleep in.
