New beater Burnout Machine

Lol. Here's the deal. I haven't had time to F around with my miata for like almost 2 years now. This is what happens when you have a job that you leave your house at 5AM and return like 5PM give or take, Monday through Friday. Or you're flying around the world to test run equipment, or you're running your kids to sports, or you're working on your house or mowin your grass...you get it. The list goes on and on, probably will only stop when the kids move out (20 ish years to go) or my employment says, "hey, since you're a VP now...sit in this chair and make decisions...nice tie by the way. Corn flower blue? Must be Tuesday..."
Well here's what's up. I'll be 38 in a month. I drive a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew cab to work everyday, and I hate it. There's no reason I need to drive a truck that seats 5 adults comfortably, and get's 16mpg's, 25 miles 1 way to work, everyday. I've been looking for a "work beater" for a long time now, and last week I found it. Wait....let's back track. My future bother in law has a '13 BMW 135i. I dig the 1 series.
I had my eye on a 128i (non turbo version of 135i minus a few other performance craps)...found a nice local (1 hour 20 min drive) 09 128i, black, 6 speed manual, pile of options...but like 150,000 miles...but cheap. I decided that I didn't want to spend 5 grand for a car that I felt was on the cusp of costing me lots of expensive parts, so I found and decided to buy this:

10 minutes across the state line into the beautiful area of Frederick Maryland, and $750 later, this 1985 GMC S15 2.8 V6 5 speed 2WD short bed came home with me.

I know, I know..."You don't have time to play with the miata but you have time to horse around with that pile?"
Yeah, actually.
See, the miata is something I really, really care about, and want to do in very close detail.
This shit box...dude...Let me lay this on ya'll. This thing has what look like an aluminum version of 15" cragar SS/T wheels on it. It has a STEEL cowl induction hood. It has aftermarket headers, TRUE dual exhaust, a sun pro tach hose clamped to the column...This thing has so much potential it's unreal.
It runs smooth (when you dump gas down the carb..it has a fuel delivery issue). I had to reroute some hoses, but tomorrow I hope to bend some steel line and throw a filter on it...and it should idle on it's own no problem.
First thing it's getting is a line lock.
2nd thing (unless I get talked out of it, cause it actually might be a bad idea) is a mini spool.

I plan on drivin this to work every single day...using it to haul my dirtbike, cause it's easier to load compared to the Sierra. Just basically runnin junkyard tires on it and painting lines all over roads.
If I blow it up, I can sell it for $1,000 to somebody who wants to V8 swap an S-10.
I feel like I can't go wrong with this thing.
Who think's I'm nuts?

Fuxxin send it :bigtu: only 750 so hard to lose on that deal. Figure gass will pay for it alone in 3 months

I got a new fuel filter for this thing and a 30” piece of steel fuel line with fittings on it for $6.24. I’m starting to feel satisfied. Which will make my total investment $756.24. If I can smoke a tire, and make it to work and back...it already paid for itself in my opinion .

Update:
Miata AND THE PILE MENTIONED ABOVE both sit around cause neither run. Only difference is, the truck sit's outside like it deserves, and the miata sits in my garage stashed away all warm and comfy.
Miata: I've actually been renewing the registration on her for the last few years and keeping it insured...but I'm gonna pull the plug on all that noise. Why should I shell out the extra coin if she sits around and doesn't move?
The truck: Fires right off...dies after like 8 seconds due to carb/ vacuum issue. I'm too cheap to spend $389 for a weber replacement carb/ adapter kit (cause it's half the price I paid for the truck). So that thing sits in my driveway.
Priorities.

My college roommate had a 91 S-10 like this with the 4.3 V6, 2WD. It was a hilarious deathtrap in the snow, with the scars to prove it.

I dont know anything about the truck, but i had a 128i for a few years and man that was hands down my favorite daily ever. Think of it performance wise as an e36 m3, with all of the comfy modern bits of a newer car. Never had any major issues until I veered it directly into a tree avoiding an animal. I plan on replacing my POS jetta with another 128i as soon as i get a chance.

Sold the truck like 3 weeks ago...couldn't have been a more perfect time. Since COVID-19, family and I have been prioritizing what it is we really need in my garage / outside.
