ms3? that's a neat car, not a bad choice. my bro had one at 140k and still running just fine and made a silly amount of torque with just a couple bolt ons and tune

Braineack 07-09-2018 02:57 PM

no scoop no turbo.

Wrong.

Gen 1 no scoop.
Gen 2 scoop.

The Gen 1 cars got the air to intercooler through a pickup behind the grills like you see many OEMs do for the air intake.

18psi 07-09-2018 03:14 PM

correct. and judging by the wheels and fascia that's an ms3

Ding ding ding.

Those 17" wheels only came on the Gen 1 MS3, of course they could have been changed.
Gen 2 stepped up to a different design in 18"

why did i think the gen 1 had a scoop too?

curly 07-09-2018 03:44 PM

Because most bros put a hood from a gen2 on their gen1

Braineack 07-09-2018 03:46 PM

or maybe: fwd no care?

ridethecliche 07-09-2018 04:48 PM

Wooo pre-facelift MS3!

correct, but for a poverty daily I'd assume torquey fail drive is better than lifeless correct drive

This. I’m not putting on leather driving gloves and taking long country drives to enjoy the harmony of my car’s balance. I just wanted a slightly nicer daily that can get out of its own way. For the price, I couldn’t pass it up.

Rear engine mount and shifter bracket/bushings will make the car drive approx 286% better. Even new they were terrible, with those miles they are likely trashed if they haven't been replaced yet.

mgeoffriau 07-10-2018 04:10 PM

Yup, got a rear motor mount from an electric Focus on the way, along with swaybar brackets and bushings. Once those are done, then I'll re-assess what is next.

z31maniac 07-10-2018 05:35 PM

This should be next.

Thanks, putting it on the list. I'm actually raising the shift knob a bit with an extender to put it in a more ergonomic position, so reducing the length of the throws would be nice.
