Is the average person who wants a fast car going to go into the Ford dealer with $35k-40k to spend, going to go with a V8 POWAH, or a beefed up economy car hatchback?

FoRS is purely an enthusiast car. We didn't get the original here because of what it was going to cost.

They are well Over Engineered. Every time I work on my wife's 335i I marvel at how complicated Germans can make the simplest chit.

And what the hell is a life-time fluid? Diff's and trans fluids are not lifetime....stop telling people that. And give me back my fing dipstick.

It is a nice car though.

^It's purely for the first buyer. Most people buying/leasing BMWs are sold on the "No maintenance" fluids.

They don't give a **** it's going to grenade the transmission at 90k, their lease will be over or they will have sold/traded it in by then.

I just noticed that at 130k the valve cover gasket is leaking. This is a 35 dollar gasket from BMW....the dealer charges...wait for it.....1200 dollars to do this work. I mean you do have to remove the fuel system stuff from the top of the head but.....srs.

I would never own this vehicle if I could not do the work myself.

What about when a HPFP goes out? Or the vanos solenoids? Or when your fuel system gets clogged on a diesel? or when your rear subframe detaches itself from the car? or....

Not the type of welcome I expected. I'm not horrified by their issues, if it breaks I'll post and bitch then you all can tell me "I told you so". Meanwhile, Im gonna enjoy B). Most times the "ermeghed it's gonna blow" comes from people with no first hand experiece.

Diesel wut? Frame? It's not an e46...

Yes easy on most cars....here is the write up to do this. I've already updated the injectors so it should be a bit less scary, but lots of stuff has to come off. to even get to it.

HPFP is only like 250 bux and easy to change out, first one replaced by warranty at 40k...second one has been there for 90k.

Honestly bang for the used buck they are fantastic. I have more issues with my 2 year older Scoob with the same miles then this car.

N55 here... JK thanks for the link. Keeping fingers I find no gremlins down the road. The car is also still under factory warranty.

used buck is always way more attractive, and usually not part of these conversations. But even still, it's kinda funny to see people saying "oh it's only $250 this, $150 that" like it's $20
under warranty is cool.
enjoy it, cause it's a GREAT car if you don't have to worry about replacing stuff.
also most people sell them right before warranty expires lol, cause right after they take a crazy hit in price

Funny thing is that the Geramn think the same about the American cars.

Americans about the German cars - oh so fast, handles so well, what a piece of engine, but be aware of how many problems you will have with them...

Germans about American cars - oh that sound, look at how big this is and how good it looks, but be aware of the crappy handling, the horrible panel gaps and sloppy engineering....

And in the end - Americans love to buy German cars, and Germans got wet dreams about American cars...

Yep.
This is why I've gone through like 20 cars in the last couple years. Every time I have the "perfect car" I see another one more perfect. It never ends. You literally never have the "perfect" car.
