the exhaust on my truck broke in 3 places and sounds horrible, cel always on....so i figured it was a good excuse to get my welder.
still have to get a cart, bottle, gloves and all that bs. and i have to wire a 220 line into my gargage. then learn to weld:facepalm:

i got the same welder do yourself a favor and get some gas for it. its a great welder

I have the 140HD and use C25 with it. It is a great little machine that could weld anything that I would ever have business welding.

I've got the same machine. Works well for anything I've done with it.

one thing i did is went and picked up some 6 guage wire and a three prong 250 amp outlet and prong and made a extension cord so i'm not tetherd down by the short cord on the welder. a 25 foot cord and outlets ended up cost me $35

yeah something like that is on the list too because i want to be able to work under the truck in the driveway.

Damn, I paid more than $35 for just one outlet! I installed a 220 outlet in the garage (right beside the breaker panel) and built a 50' extension. Made it so my mig welder, plasma cutter and generator could all be swapped to hook into that 220 (6250W generator can be hooked up to back feed into the panel). The female outlet on the generator has an "L" where one of the male prongs goes. If the L points the other way it is a $15 plug, in my case it is a $35 plug. Spent a small fortune building the wires/plugs but it works great.

Lulz, just wired up a 35 foot cord for mine tonight. Had to weld the shock pockets back into the V8 car. Being able to roll the welder to the car FTW.

i checked a few different places out one place wanted 5.00 a foot for just the wire. i then went to my little local hardware store they had outlets and prongs for 6.00 apiece "made in mexico" and my wire was a 1.00 a foot.

would you guys recommend a 50amp breaker with 6/3 wire or a 40amp with 8/3 wire? welder manual is only asking for 40a, and the only other thing i can forsee running on it would be a compressor which would need even less. reason for asking 8/3 wire is considerably cheaper than 6/3. the run will probably be less than 30ft.

same goes for an extension cord, see any problem with 8/3? how long can i go with it?

edit: nevermind. at home depot 6/3 is only like 20cents more per foot than 8/3

i went 50amp with 6/3 wire. better safe than sorry and also you won't waste money doing it over again later if you pick up some more toys that require a bit more juice.

Definitely 6/3, and you can still use a 40a breaker.

Also get yourself an auto dark helmet. Those things rock!

i need to do this, and get a friggin cart for mine........OP its really easy to learn, i think somebody here said "if you can write your name in the snow you can weld"

and i dont know if you know this but if you open up the lid on the side of the wellder (if your is the same as mine) you open it up and there is a chart on there telling you what your wire speed and Volts needs to be on for diff thicknesses of metal!

you can also do aluminum and stainless with the right stuff!

the wire you got for the extension, are they all together in a sheathing? the reason i ask is because all the stuff they had at home depot was incredibly inflexible. now that doesn't bother me for the wiring from the breaker to the box, but would probably get super annoying for an extension cord.

yeah mine was in a cord it was flexable but not electric cord flexable small price to pay for more range. and you really need a cart. as for alumium you can with different gas but it is hard to get the metal hot enough to do a decent job. best left to a tig welder
