Which genius decided that the best way to hold on rotors is with the wheel bearing cap? Makes a simple 1 hour 4-wheel brake job turn into 5 hours. *** hats!!!

Oh, and set of 4 wheel ceramic brake pads: $60

Have you ever changed rotors on an Pre98 Honda Accord...Biggest PITA ever... Same thing, need to remove the control arm and press out the Hub, so add Ball joints to your list...

Thats ****, my dads truck just broke well one of the leaf springs just snapped, ABS is disabled its a 2000 F-250 only 110,000km on it first problems hes ever had but they rape you and charges and parts. And theres a noise coming from the right front when you reach a certain speed and it keeps doing it, almost sounds like the tires deflated but its not. Would that be the tire, i was thinking wheel bearing or the wheel hub, you can feel it when your sitting down.

I've had a few Fords, and they've all been pretty good cars. The current one, 2000 Explorer EB V8 RWD, has never needed anything other than oil and brakes. We've had it ~6 years and 120k miles now (got it in 01 or 02 w/ 30k). Pretty sure it's on the original plugs and wires... at 150k. I've never changed em.
It's also averaged 19mpg on 87 octane, making it more economical to take on road trips than my E class which gets 25mpg on 93.

Bearings can make a growling noise. First drive a round and make turns to put the bearings under more pressure.Try jacking the front wheel up that is making the noise. Then shake the wheel back and forth, and up and down. The wheel shouldn't shake. If the the bearing is real bad the rim will move back and forth slightly on the loose bearing.

Or better yet pop the cap off, pull the carter pin, and take the bearing out. It only takes me 10 mins.
Don't over tighten it when you put it back on.


!!!!! If you can't find it and it only does it at a certain speed, and then it stops at a faster speed. You may of lost a weight on your drive shaft. I had a 78 Ford that this happened to. It would shake the truck from 35 - 65 mph.

Probably saves them about 15 min per car in assembly time - they do the hub, rotor, wheel bearing all in one piece, just tighten the crown nut and on to the next one. Your **** luck if you need to work on it.
