nickel 6UL's, or 15x7.5 bronze rota slipstreams?
the rotas are the same weight, similar price, bronze, and readily available.
I don't really want to drop money on wheels, just to spend another $200 to get the powder-coated bronze, so I was thinking get the nickel so I can have a set of bronze street wheels, silver track wheels. Any thoughts? do the 6ul's come mounted for that price? I'm a bitch and can't decide...but I'm really tired of going to the track on street tires. |
Even as much as you see the Slipstreams they just have a great "track wheel" look. I can't stand the 6UL's. They seem to ruin the decent look of every Miata they are on. Good call going bronze :bigtu:.
|
The slipstreams are alright but there are so many honda's in my area that have them that I decided no way. I bought nickel 6ULs. They'll be great.
If you're expecting to just buy some though, I'm pretty sure they're sold out with no plans for production soon. I know he had a few sets left a few weeks ago though. |
they're all gone. There's enough demand, emelio will make more.
|
fyi, I'm still trying to trade my vw for wheels and other creative trades.

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...&wheelModel=LM If they would have just made them more BBS style they would be so much better looking. The spokes start to close to the hub. Thats what ruins it for me. Its not really fair comparing anything to the sickest wheel ever made though ;) |
BBS are a PITA to clean though with the rivets. Had a set on my Eclipse. They looked good though.
That said, I have the nickel 6ULs ordered for my Emerald Mica. Should look good. Frank |
the more i see dark cars with bronze wheels the more I kinda want my bronzes back on my black.

I dunno. I kinda like the 6ULs. I didn't buy them for looks, but they turned out pretty nice.:bigtu: |
15x8 > 15x7.5
|
6uls look good on black cars...especially in nickel...damn Savington that shit looks good.
|
I love the look of my 6ul's, to each his own.
and I second that 15x8 > 15x7.5 |

I think he's looking into the 15x10s and then some 15x7.5s for spec guys.
I can't imagine. |
ahh, well he said that up to 15x9.5 would fit inside the fenders. so 15x10 would require flares.
|
jesus here we go again
robert f melbert jr back in the hizouse. |
Man 15x9s would be sick in the rear, be a bummer not being able to rotate tires though.
|
Who is Emilio? And 9 or 10" wheel in the back of a Miata? Shit. I wanna know.
I've seen some sick pics of the RPF1's on the NC's, these kinda look like those. Is one a knock-off of another? |

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=238970 Emilio has alluded to making a 15x9 that could fit FRONT AND BACK, or a 15x10 that would fit the back only. :bigtu: |

Man I need a set of locking lug nuts for my new wheels.
|
I changed my mind. I'm going to get another set of stockers, and buy sway bars, engine and diff mounts, "sport" brakes for the front, and dyno time.
I don't think I'm ready for r-compound rubber yet, so I'm going to also buy a TV instead. |

There's really no point. Its easy to snap a lug off when only one holds the wheel. |
Dude if you are serious about racing, buy the right equipment and get R's. Running street tires on the track is false economy. An RA-1 will last and last and be able to take the heat and abuse.

I run 215/13 V710 and I seriously need more tire. This is autocross where there are serious demands put on traction.
RA-1 isn't going to mask bad habits. By that logic you should ditch the Azenis and run a Kumho Supra 711. Besides once you put that turbo in the car you are going to have to relearn how to drive, and it'll be harder. |
Then I'll consider 205 ra-1's for the 15" stockers.
|
225/45 would be the better choice.

$700 more than what?

Forget masking your skills. if you have bad skills, they'll show up in your lap time more than anywhere else. in reality, you'll have to re-learn how to drive on race tires anyway so why not start there? |
I'd put the 225/45 on the stock 15X6 wheels. Not ideal, but it'll work.

I bet you end up spending that money sometime in the near future anyway. It might be a year from now but I just about guarantee you upgrade.

Sounds like a plan. I would go small RA-1s and stocker wheels till I had the money for the track membership.
|
God you suck at decision making.
:inout: Also, 250rwhp will be challenging on any tire. For my car (200rwhp), 225/45 RS2s vs. 225/45 NT01s, I was able to hook 3rd gear on the R-comps exiting any corner pretty much immediately. With the street tires, I could wag the ass pretty good in 3rd. |
