Default Non Convertible Replacement for Miata

After reading the M3, Mini thread, led me to a question:

If you were to get a non convertible replacement for the miata what would it be, considering:

1) relatively easy/cheap to maintain
2) relatively decent gas mileage
3) daily driver, fun on the track, fun on the streets

A miata with a hardtop. Kind of joking, but not really....

the hardtop thing got old. Had a hardtop, sold it because I hated it. The hardtop is constantly begging, take me off! and it maks things a little quieter, but not much.

Daily driver.. I would get something gas efficient or with enough power to tow/haul stuff. Depends on what you need a second car for. My miata is my play toy, so I need something daily that can get me to work and can fit more then a small box of cargo. If your miata is your toy.. get something fun at least.. my personal next toy car is probably the M3 "ugly duckling" hatchback thing.

if I was replacin the miata, it would be either a clean 510 or a E30 M3 lightweight
for secind car, anything reliable really

Easy choice for me. My GF said no more two door cars, so after im done with the miata, I think ill pick up an A4 or A5(yes not two door, but bigger and can fit 4).

I drive mine to 1-2 track days a year, and maybe 100 street miles. A modded 240Z will beat you the hell up.
