Any antique buffs here?
A good buddy of mine dropped off some Cloisonne style copper Ming vases and I'm trying to dig up some more info on them. From what I've been researching and reading I think they're a home run, but I don't know enough about them to be certain.
The pair are in decent shape overall, some dings and dents throughout. Pitting that seems to be common with these copper vases. A hole in the bottom of one. Etc etc. Nothing too major besides 1 big dent in the side of one of them.
37" tall @ 15lbs each
You never know the mix of people on a forum so I figured I'd ask.

What about you gun nuts. Any idea if this thing is worth some cash?
Olderguy, I'm thinking that was you bidding on the Jamaica and Barbados coins. Any chance this box of coins and ingots might interest you?
I wish there was someone local I could take stuff to for some insight. Someone I could trust. Not like those actors on tv though (pawn stars, pickers, storage wars, etc). Those guys are ******** and those shows are a joke.

Yeah I was thinking that, but I wouldn't know which one to choose or who to trust. I figured I could at least throw it up on here and see if I get any hits. Otherwise I just play the game and list it for what I "think" its worth and hope for the best. lol

The pistol looks like a modern repro, the "Made in Spain" in english is a dead give away, any chance there is a makers rollmark in front or above the brass wedge? PIETTA or F.Pitifali (something like that) It also looks like it could be an older Traditions or CVA 'roll your own' kit, somewhat like Cabela's sells. 12 1/2mm is roughly .47 cal. so I would imagine its .45cal roundball + patch, but I'd get it mic'd by a gunsmith of competent enthusiast before attempting to shoot it. They really are not worth a lot, and there are a lot of variables with the whole 'end user assembly' thing. Makers mark will tell the story. There may also be writing on the lock plate. The rust is also no bueno. Pop the wedge and lift the barrel out to check its underside, and also check the breech hook. FYI: Blackpowder is very corrosive if not cleaned properly/quickly after shooting.
California doesn't even consider these to be guns, but I know other states have specific laws regarding blackpowder firearms, so be careful where you sell it, if that is your angle.

He looked it over, did some measuring and took it apart. He came to the conclusion that its not really worth much and would be better to keep around as a toy. I think he said it was 42CAL, but that it said "12MM" on the barrel. He made me some bullets before we left and said to have fun with it.
How could I not!?!
Thanks for the info man! That's good to know and gets me another step in the right direction. I'm holding off listing them until I know a bit more about them.
