Not exactly 3D printer, but...
Not sure how many of you follow these types of projects, but I just remembered about this thing!

Is that like a small cnc router table?
I thought it was cool, then saw the 3 grand price tag. No thanks. I can buy a classic bridge port, a VFD, and a CNC conversion for that much and end up with a WAY more capable machine. If they could get it down to $800 it would be more interesting. |
Yeah, I can CNC my mini-mill for about half that, and still have a more robust machine.
And no silly flashing LEDs. |
Personally, I look at it as a move in the right direction. I love the fact that it's portable and you control it through a touch interface (tablet), but it certainly needs improvements. Price should drop significantly if they start manufacture these in larger quantities.
Overall, I think it's a great first revision of a product. I will definitely keep checking back, waiting for future models. |
I remember 10 or 15 years ago, when people started documenting and building DIY 3 axis CNC milling machines. They were going to change the world and revolutionize the fab industry.

Everytime I read about stuff like this, I spend the rest of the day watching vids of CNCs working their magic on chunks of steel/alu.
