Oh carp, a Nissan Cube
I've mentioned a time or two that it is probably time for my wife to get a new car. She always says, "oh, mine's fine". It's a 03 Protege and she can really not care less about cars.
So, I just got a phone call. "You know what a Nissan Cube is?" "yesss..." "I really like it." This is the first time that she has expressed interest in a car for a couple of years since saying that she likes the looks of a Jag, which I can at least agree with. You have to know my wife. When she finally does get something in her head it's tough to change her mind. When I commented that I thought they were butt ugly she just said "it's a girl car". Crap. I'd hate to be seen in one of those. |
Would you rather her call you up and want a Navigator?

Seriously...my wife asked if we should get a Scion Xb yesterday.
One of her uncles passed away...and we somehow ended up with first dibs on it. You can imagine my response. Although DDing a moving smoke screen did make me think twice about it. |

Fuck it man, they are cheap and reliable. Get her what she wants, use it to move shit when needed (small shit at least), and enjoy a happy wife. She isn't making you drive it so who gives a damn.
|
I actually kind of like it. I wouldn't own one, but it's different.
|
No harm, no foul. Roll with it. At least she didn't put in for a money pit Land Rover or any of a dozen other rolling catastrophes.
|
^ good point. My buddy is buying his wife an ML...
|
I think they look kind of cool. But WTF do I know, I drive a girly car. ;)
I'm thinking about getting a Honda Element next fall for a backup vehicle. Can carry SCUBA gear, Bicycles, and the dogs. |
lol

I saw one in real life a couple days ago. They're not actually half bad, in real life at least. They look alot better in person.

I'd be all over it. They are cheap. Get her that before she sees something more expensive that you can't talk her out of. My wife was tossed between a Navigator and a Lexus. She looked at the Genesis Sedan and loved it. I hurry up and bought that bitch!

A good friend loves his Honda Element. First car he's owned for more that a year in a long time. Might have her test drive one too if it's boxy she likes and not the Cube in particular.
|
Nissan Canada was giving away 50 Cubes last year and my brother actually won one of them. They gave him the top of the line model (for Canada, I think in the USA you have the KROM model) with the CVT transmission in that blue-green colour.
We took it on a road trip to NYC in the summer, I drove the whole 1600kms round trip. It was pretty comfortable, albeit quite slow. But it's a good round the city car, lots of headroom, couch like seats, recline-able rear seat, lot's of storage space while remaining quite compact. You get a lot of "WTF" looks from people at red lights. Toyota never sold Scions in Canada so it's the first time people are seeing really boxy cars here. |

Divorce her, its the only way out.
Or tell her she can have it, but anytime you go anywhere we'll just take your car instead of hers. I wouldn't be caught dead in any of those Kenmore refrigerator looking pieces of shit. But thats just me. |
I'm kinda surprised at the hate. They're like new gen econoboxes. I'm actually liking the kia soul for example.
Of course I'd rather get an Austin Mini first if I could find one that wasn't a rolling shell for less than $3000. |
talk her into a Fit. then get her to auto-x it with you.

Sucks to be you guys with your Cube wanting wives! My fiance says she loves her '02 Saturn SL-2, which has proven to be a good car so far. Bought with 66,000 miles, it now has 120,000, only took oil changes, tires, brakes, and a thermostat. I asked her what she'd want when it's time for the Saturn to go, she says, "Audi A4 if we have kids, otherwise I want a C5 vette".
