OH LAWDY ITS A FIHRE

So its hot and dry here in socal like usual. I wake up this morning, look out my window, and see the Camp Pendleton base area on fire. I thought to myself "Thats kinda close...not a whole lot of smoke though so I will go to school anyway." Well a few hours later there are SEVEN fires burning around the north county area of San Diego. My campus closes from power outages, I drive back home and see a huge smoke cloud near my house and the first thing that comes to mind is "I need to save my cats and my turbo parts." Clearly this forum has become influential in my decision making process:party:. The flame front is still a ways off, maybe fifteen miles plus or minus five, and nobody in my part of town has been evacuated yet. I took a short vidya with my old old OLD camera.

Just heard from a friend back in Carlsbad- my old apartment is on fire (1 mi south of Palomar Airport on the coast side of El Camino.) Apparently this one is serious.

The one in Carlsbad has burned 30+ homes from what I have been reading.

NYC seems like a better choice every day.

You mean Hoboken NJ?

I was trying to be nice, no one wants to be associated with that state.

I remember watching the mountains outside of San Diego burn from my apartment a few years back. It was one of the most unreal things I've ever seen. I was in the navy at the time, and we rigged up gigantic buckets on our helicopters and helped put it out. Best of luck to you. Good to see that you have your priorities straight.

So a bit of an update, yesterday there was a "voluntary" evacuation as a cautionary measure but a few of us stayed behind to make sure all the elderly neighbors got out. I didnt have time to take any pics or video but it was really amazing to see the planes fly so low to drop the fire retardant. The flame front came within an eighth mile of my house but the fire break kept it from coming over the top of the hill. The smoke and ash falling looks like a scene out of that movie Dante's Peak.

Two kids were arrested after being caught trying to start another fire, 17 and 19 years old. At this point it is unknown if/how many other fires they started.

Props for good guy neighbor.

Someone needs to set those two little cunts on fire. See how quick they'll be to play with matches if they survive.
