Nice find!

I've ridden a '04 250R and I liked it. I was really really into the idea a few years ago then my friend wrecked his CBR 600 and got messed up bad.

He/Everyone made fun of me for wanting a 250 ninja.

"It's a girls bike." "It's a homo's bike." "You'll look huge riding that little thing."

Just like you I was more concerned w/ MPG back when gas was $4+/gal. Now I just want one to enjoy and mix up my commute.

KawiForums.com Kawasaki Forums: Kawasaki motorcycle forums is a good spot. I had lots of people saying they bought a 250/500 to learn on and just kept it since the resale stays pretty consistant for years and years and they're more fun in the twisties than the bigger heavier bikes.

Last bike I had was a Honda 1800 Retro. 110 cubic inches of Honda V-twin. The flywheel weighed over 50 lbs. It was a torquey little ride. All 850 lbs of it.

His is a 500.

Not that it makes a difference, they make great commuters, but they're slow as crap. DO NOT SPEND ANY TIME/MONEY MODDING THIS. Seriously, I think the new 250r has the same performance specs as this. Like I said though, great commuter bike and still really fun. Enjoy!

I really wanted a Ninja 250...I know it's slow as hell, but I figured it was the perfect gateway drug to learn some riding skills before I got something stupid. Wife was on board, but Dad put the kibosh on it. His sister's son (my cousin) died on a 750 a couple years back and it really shook him and my Mom up.

I got the Miata instead, and basically a permanent A-OK from the wife to pursue the turbo project so much as our budget allows, so that's not bad. I'd still like a bike, but it probably won't happen until my parents are gone...then I might have kids by then...eh, maybe a BMW bike once I'm retired.
