Default Oil Analysis

Any one bother with it? Working in the heavy truck industry we use oil analysis all the time with Cat, Detroit, and Cummins. I have sent samples into Cat a few times, and they always come back good. When I was racing my Formula-Vee I would send in samples after each race weekend.

We do it at work on heavy diesels but I'm not likely to ever do it because I'm not going to tear down a Miata engine because it is showing a little too much iron in a sample. I'll wait until it blows up and then pick up another engine at the junkyard for $400 and be done with it.

Your situation may vary.
