Default Buying a car from overseas

We found a 04 350Z with 60k (for my wife) for what seems to be a great deal. According to my email correspondence with the gentleman, he says he is a sgt in the US Air Force, and the car has been continally registered here in the states, even though the car is with him in the UK.

He says that if we pay through eBay (paypal?) that he will have the car delivered to my nearest airport on Air Force cargo plane, and after I sign for it I have five days to have it inspected. If the car is not as advertised and I decline, eBay will not release the funds to him, and he will have the car picked up.

So, How fishy does this sound? Is there a way to verify what he is saying?

I'd hate to walk away from a good deal, and I'd like to help a serviceman out, but I don't want to give my money to scammers either.

Super fishy! Ebay is not an escrow service. My BS alarm says you are about to get ripped off.

Scratch what I just wrote--

Uh, I just read that again. I call scam. He can't say a USAF plane will come to your nearest airport. Doesn't work like that.

Hello,
Thanks for being interested in buying my car. 2007 Honda CR-V 4x4 EX-L VIN# JHLRE48707C058901, 47000 miles, Transmision -5 Speed Automatic,Fuel type: Gasoline,Ext color:White, Int Color: Beige Leather,Drive Type -All wheel drive,Power Sunroof,Rear Window Wiper ,Fold Down Rear Seat ,Sunroof Cover ,Traction Control,Dual Air Bags ,Leather Seats ,Power Door Locks ,Power Windows,Tilt Wheel,CD Changer,Side Impact Curtain Air Bag......
The car has been well taken care of, always kept in the garage.Flawless exterior/interior condition,no scratches and no dents. It has never been involved in an accident. The engine starts and drives like new and the paint looks great. It comes with US clear title which will be signed and notorized in the buyer's name.Have original manuals and all keys.
I'm an US Air Force Sgt.currently stationed in the United Kingdom. The car is here with me.I have no use for it in UK, because all cars have the steering wheel on the right hand side and I am willing to purchase one here.I will have the car shipped from UK by an US Air Force cargo plane so there won't be any additional shipping costs.
The price is $4,650.00 including shipping cost from the UK to the US and delivery to your home address. The transaction will be made through eBay for our own protection. You will have 7 days to inspect it upon arrival. If you are realy interested to buy my car please reply with your FULL NAME AND ADDRESS, so we can start the arrangements!
Best Regards,

Sgt Silvian W Hemen
Hello,
I will have the car shipped from UK by an US Air Force cargo plane so there won't be any additional shipping costs. The shipping will take 6-8 days, depending on your location.Shipping will be door to door,to your home address, somebody must be home when the car arrives to sign for the reception. The car will arrive with all the papers and documents required for registration and the keys. The clear title and the bill of sale will be already signed by me.
The payment will be done through eBay.You will send the money to eBay and as soon as the payment is confirmed they will notify me to proceed with the shipping. I will ship the car you will receive it and you will have 5 days for inspection, both the car and the paperwork and the option to accept or reject the car.The inspection time period will begin as soon as you sign for receiving the car at your requested address.During all this time eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the car before decided to buy it.If you are satisfied with the car and decide to keep it you inform eBay about this and they will release the money to me. If the car is not as advertised and decide not to keep it eBay will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back the car will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for the both of us.Please take in to consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the car and make sure everything is as agreed.

If you agree with these terms and you have the money, send me your full name and the address where you want the car to be delivered to and I will initiate the transaction with eBay. You will receive all the transaction details from them.

I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible.

Thank you!
MSgt.Robert Gaylor

Here is more, he gave me a vin# I did the quick search and it shows it belonging to a 2004 350Z with 16 records. If someone has the unlimited carfax service I will pm it to you.

Here is his last email:

Hi,

I have his name and rank, if it's possible to look him up, to see if he is real.

I call scam just based on the fact that Sgt is a very seldom used rank in the USAF.
