One last question then im gone!

Ok so with my with these minor mods what can i turn it up to
Boost gauge
BOV
MBC
I/C piping
Air INtake
3" downpipe (deletes cat)

Stock is at 11 so I was thinking 13 or 14 too high?

i think you will be ok just keep an ear out for Det.

I think the weak link in your system is your transmission. Doesn't that car have a knock sensor already? Not that it's infallible, but you can tap into it with a knock gauge just to be on the safe side.

Wait, did you get the all wheel drive jobbie? Don't go thinking that drag launching it is a good idea either. That's a quick way to burn clutches and break expensive drivetrain goodies.

you should be fine at those boost levels, like i said earlier i was running 18 psi before i realized it wasnt make anymore power than at 16 psi, on the stock fuel system. Dsms run really rich so you have a lot of room to play with. The trans are the weak link in dsms but you shouldnt have any problems till you start puttin out big hp numbers. When you launch the car you have to feed the clutch to it, dont just dump it or youll bog the car down, just slowly release it, with an upgraded clutch and the 16g you definity understand youll need to slip the clutch, like when you dont let the clutch all the way out and you excellerate, if you smell it burnin give it more gas next time.

viciousclipse 08-12-2006 08:33 AM

by the way i launched my car with 300+hp probably more than 30 times and never broke anything or went through a single clutch

Mach929 08-12-2006 08:57 AM

major weak point in those cars is the fuel pump, upgrade the fuel pump and you won't be able to hurt the car on the stock turbo

Thanks guys youve been alot of help even though this is a miata forum.

Was yours front or all wheel?

I'm betting he's saying he launched 30 times with a non-awd car.. which is silly, cause its irrelevant to the conversation. The DSMs drivetrains are VERY fragile to hard AWD launches, but ... if he's cool w/ it... blow it up and eat that repair bill.

firedog25 08-13-2006 01:41 PM

Yeah, any all wheel drive car doesn't agree with drag launches for very long. The Mitsubishi and Subaru dealerships where I am ate warranty work for a while until they got smart after seeing a little pattern of claims.

viciousclipse 08-14-2006 10:17 AM

actually my car was awd, and its not that dsms are fragile, its all awd cars, you put 300hp, dump the clutch, the power has to go somewhere, and trans are usually the weakest link. People where blowing clutches and breaking trans on evos and subarus because they would rev the cars to redline and drop the clutch, if you feed the clutch and dont rev it to redline theyll hold up unless you have huge hp. Like i said 321hp, 30+ launches, AWD, no breaks
