Default I'm fail at buying used cars.

Of the last 10 or 12 cars and trucks I've purchased, more than half(rough guess, maybe 8 or 9 of them) were bad deals for me. It appears as though I suck at buying used cars. I want a second Miata as a beater, however I tend to allow my want to override solid decision making. I'm going to look at the car below tommorrow. Lets assume that the pics tell the whole story. If it starts, drives, stops and the undercarriage doesnt appear to be destroyed, what kind of money would be a good offer/my top dollar. I'm full of fail at this ****, and want to save as much turbo money as I can.

copy/paste

Know a good body man? Perfect car for a back yard project (or garage). Faded red w/black interior. 5 speed. engine runs great passes Hamilton cty emissions. Leaky top needs replacing ( $275 on-line) Cab cover goes with car to keep it dry! 7spoke factory wheels with good tires all around (complete spare set available also). A/C compressor is frozen, but thats why you put the top down!! pwr steering belt and speedometer cable are in trunk ready to install. custom intake kit available. Have aluminum and carbon fiber wing for trunk lid. Suspension is in great shape. $1400 obo

Lowball like hell I would say.... What's the mileage? I would say that if you got it for say 800 bucks or less, that you'd be in business.

I say offer $1000 at most. I also suck at buying used cars, which is why my next car will have to be at most 5 years old, no more cars nearly as old as me. I at least want it to be from the same decade.

yup, 1k at most!

almost any decent running car is worth atleast 1k (within reason) this particular miata is in the ballpark.....the best way to get the seller to come down on price is start pointing out everything that is wrong with the car (it will make them start believing the car is worth less than what they were originally set on)

Speaking of cab covers, I need something to keep those goddamn cedar tree needles out of the rear of the top where it goes under the trunk lid area. Of course stop parking under the tree, but it's convenient parking. Every damn day when I let the top down and start driving I get the interior filled with those hard to clean up *******. Stick all in the carpet, and get all in my eyes and hair. Damn low pressure area! All the more reason to hurry up and go full time HT.

I have no more softtop, HT only. So I wanna drive to work in the hot summer with no HT, but I hate to leave it uncovered while I'm in the building. This is why I need a cover like this. Does anyone even sell these?

No way I would trust that myself. As much as people seem to **** with my car, someone would spit in it, throw a drink into it, rub their dick on the steering wheel or do something to it that would send me into an uncontrollable rage for days.

You could just do it ghetto and buy some small bungee cords and a small tarp

Moss sells two different styles of cockpit covers.

Does that car come with two sets of Daises? Finish panel is missing, trunk doesnt appear to close. Its hard to tell what condition the paint is in. I would agree with most people here and say lowball. Start at $800 and work to $1000.
