The Driver should just go out and buy 100 lottery tickets.
The odds of winning the lotto have not increased or lessened by running into a pole. In "reality", the chances of two miracles happening once in the same day typically don't happen, so therefore "odds" would be decreased.

FTA commentary:

"The driver walked away with nothing but a scratch on his hand? I'm betting that pole had nothing more than a scratch also. It's like the old saying about why don't they make the airplane out of the same stuff as the black box? America wake up! Start making your cars out of telephone poles for the ultimate in safety! " haha

because a plane made out of 1/2" thick tempered carbon steel would be expensive and very, very heavy... duh.

There are people who swear by Delorians. And Some Russian planes appear to be made from bricks and structural I-Beams. I still remember the stories on Discovery channel about the IL-2 Storovick attack plane. Awesome.

I want to see a plane made out of 3/8 steel plate!

I'm gonna be a negative Nancy and say the guy probably should have just died for going so fast. How fast would you have to go to bury a pole all the way up to the passenger seat upright. Shouldn't have been going so fast on what looks like a side street. I don't believe in luck, but if it's real this guy is using up lucky points that could go to me.

The more I look at that the more I think it might be a fake somehow.

Thats going right through a mount, a subframe, a meaty part of the chassis, the firwall, and at least a lot of the floorpan. Thats going to plain cleave a wood pole and at least bend severely a metal one no matter how it is anchored.

Not necessarily.

If it's fake, that is the best damn fake I've ever seen. Also, why fake that, and go through all of the trouble? To prove bad drivers buy GM products?

Maybe suing Toyota is going out of style. GM hasnt had a good class action lawsuit in awhile AFAIK.

Or just for the hell of it.

And what would you sue over in that case? I guess maybe his pedal got stuck and the brakes failed, and then the steering wheel popped off and he went right into a pole at what looks to have been 70mph or more.
