Love the analogy

I think my pricing is very fair so you can see I'm not trying to squeeze every last penny out of it.

And if I can't sell it as is and have to resort to parting out, I think I just MIGHT keep the shell, but I'd still kinda rather have someone enjoy my sexy and relatively powerful car than just strip it all out and start from scratch.

I dunno, maybe I'm weird lol

I can hit 400whp on my current setup if I made a few revisions (like custom IM, ewg, etc), but unlike you I DONT GIVE A **** about peak power or having a big number to maximize my e-peen. Its one of the reasons I didn't crank up the boost and go for 350whp. My car feels great right now and I'm happy with it.

A v8 would provide insta-torque and get me the "shelby cobra" feeling and sound I am starting to get the itch for. Not peak power.

I think I want that just for the ridiculous "ZOMG there's a v8 in that tiny little roadster" feeling.

LOL

Next time just make a nice little pile out of your cash in the middle of the living room floor, take a dump on it, and set it on fire.

Lol.

Seriously, you'll get 50-60% on your used parts separately and ~10% with them on the car. Either way you lose. The best possible money is to strip that beautiful car down to a bare shell while selling each part individually, but that would warrant a vicious e-flogging.

How easy is it to get decent money for a well sorted, beautiful turbo Miata? Ask Robino. That was heartbreaking for him, I'm sure.

The grass is always greener. Why don't you keep it and also build a cheap track beater? You know, apply what you have learned in a fun way.

Just a FYI. Its free/cheap to list a motor vehicle on eBay. List it for $10k and see if you get any bites. You'll get a better idea of what you can get for it on there, rather than on a forum with a bunch of guys that already have one.

Not to mention EVERYONE on here is a lowballing ****. lol

Seriously, post 24 pics, mod list and a brief description. You'll at least be able to see how many people view it or add it to their watch list.

Numbers sound pretty damn realistic to me, but feel free to comment. I strive to sell everything for fair market value. I obviously have much more in it.
cjernigan has been trying to sell his car for MONTHS at the same price and roughly same level of mods... you're making more power on a bigger turbo, but the rest of the stuff is very similar. Unless somebody liked EVERYTHING about cjernigans except the color, I can't see you selling your car at that price based on how long he's been holding out.

That's kind of where I'm at right now with the red car. I just want it gone so I can move on to the next project, and I've accepted the fact that I'm not going to get anything resembling decent money for it. At this point, I'm just going to wait for the weather to warm up a tad, put a battery in it, and take the first winning bid on eBay.

If we were concerned with petty things like financial common sense, we wouldn't be turbocharging Miatas in the first place.

You have disappointed me terribly.

Sell me your longblock so I can realize my concept of having one engine for the front wheels and one engine for the rear wheels.

Seriously though, how many project cars have you gone through?

Ive had my miata for 3 years now and its the longest I've ever owned a car.
Typically I go through 1 car every year to 2 years.

I get bored fast
And I'm really not a track junkie, so I won't be making any track cars. I like street cars. That's it.

Dollars and sense,
You've got a really clean car there. I think you'd be better off keeping the car and selling off what you don't need. Use that money for the v8 swap.
If you were to sell your car and get something on the 'cheap' you're gonna probably end up spending a lot of money on other stuff thats been neglected.

How do you not have the urge to push your car to it's limits in a track setting?

I've sold a modded car as is - horrible return on the "investment"
I've parted a modded car - better $$$ but a huge pain in the ***

BUT... There is a 3rd option that no one has mentioned. The best money I've made was wrecking a modded car. If you can find a moron who runs a stop sign and will let you t-bone him you can make some good cash. I wrecked a cherry 93 with an upgraded M45 like that. Threatened the insurance company until they gave me $10K for a car with a $3,000 book value, kept the car and sold $7K in parts off it.

leave the white car as is, in the garage.

buy this for your v8 lust http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/2280049188.html
that way when you decide it was just a bad idea you can dump it back on cl and drive the white car. no harm no foul.
