I understand, most people would rather stay slow. It's comfortable.

So yea, I have had this car since 1999
CLICK TO FOLLOW ALONG

I have openly entertained the ideas of selling it whole. I was happy around 22k about 4 y ears ago, last year 17 (took a deposit for 16k for it) and this year 15,500. I have $26,100 in parts alone not including labor, taxes, shipping and the actual car itself. The car is about a 9/10 (perhaps higher, being very critical).

When the GT was bone stock everyone said they were worth a few bucks, in around 2003 people were saying $14,000 stock. Problem was no one ever wanted it for it. I kept the car stock for so long and finally felt tired catering to the market that just didnt seem to exist for 1993 GT Mustangs.

I began to mod. Blowers, Turbokits etc, the money piled into it. As it sits right now the car has over 40k into it.

There are a few things I have learnt during the selling my car excersice.
- kids cant get financing and their parents dont want them in a 5L
- nobuddy wants a car with a stand alone that can be manually tuned or toyed with.
- no on has money, or atleast money for this car
- 2003 cobras are going for 20k, so a few bucks more over my car you get new technology and a very mod happy terminator.
- people are full of ****
- trades for honda accords or any other types of old **** boxes are truly a trade / gesture in my favor.

I have contemplated the part out vs the sale. I feel the very same way about the car and the part out process, its sad. It is the ONLY way i will recoup close to what I want out of the car but then i have to pay a buddy of mine to strip it (so 10% of each part sale + shipping costs) and then get jerked around by people on the net.

I love the car, but I have a few cars and the wife is calling the shots on the next car which is no more next cars until all the other cars are gone.

Honestly, after all the money i dumped into the 93 it would just ruin me to see the torch come out but maybe that's the reality of all this. Torch it, drive it, park it. Either way its paid for at this stage.

Now, back to another point made by the OP (getting a miata w. blown motor v8 swap etc)... I bought another Mustang LX a while back for a project car thinking it would be fun and enjoyable. BUT i cant help but look at it and say "wow, you kinda are a piece of **** with so much potential". I mean, the LX is nice and should fetch close to the 93 (if the 93 ever fetches), but its not the 93 in shape, wear and overall cleanliness.

It is sooooo irritating and selling anything at 10k, 15k, 50k is all the same when the people aint got it. Most the people looking at your Miata AINT got it, same as my mustang. And while some may say they DO got it, they AINT got it for your or my car.

From Kijiji i have gotten two suggestions that I pull an insurance scam and people will pay me 5k for the car. That is a bad idea IMO, but, perhaps ... actually, wont even say it. Shitty idea but the people of kijiji have been kind enough to offer it up. I would be better off financially if a scam went all smooth.

Either way, do what makes you feel good which is likely none of the options. I am bored too, i enjoyed the build and creation of it more than the driving part whereas I enjoy my Hemi in stock trim 100x more than the 93 Mustang. I never once regretted the build or spending the cash as I seen it come together. I am kicking myself now.

Oh, 1 other thing I have learned. Your friends and family, full of **** too. I have had 3 family members offer to buy the car. I dropped my pants since they were family but in the end, all talk. Friends, sure, they will want your car, for nothing; and i mean nothing as in less than the nothing you will get selling to some random on the net.

Its all bad from here on out.

You guys are all pretty much correct to the tee.
And I really appreciate the honesty and blatancy of this thread. This is why I made this thread, cause I knew you ******** would tell me how it is and not pussyfoot around LOL

After some thought I'm coming to this conclusion:

That shell that was posted earlier (thank you jasonb) I will inquire on. And others like it if I don't get it. My car as it is right now will not be getting parted just yet. I'm going to list it for sale sometime mid/end of april and just put absolutely ZERO confidence into it selling, so that I don't get my hopes up or get frustrated with lowballs and flakers. If it doesn't sell, I'll somehow try to swing both cars. I'm not in a financial situation (at least yet) where I CAN'T have both, but not selling my current one is going to severely SLOW DOWN my future build, because I'll have to "save up for" parts and not have a hefty chunk of change to get it rolling real quick. Perhaps this is a good thing since I shouldn't be in a hurry anyways

MT is the best. Despite the obvious homosexuality

PS: Rick your mustang is SIICK

Like most people said, you're better of parting out man if you want the maximum return. I had a tough time selling my car as well. I actually made more parting it out than I would have selling it, but it sure is a BITCH getting it back to stock.

P u s s y

Sad to see you go. V8 = gay

I can appreciate once a project is finished you get bored. You may have answered this question before, but it is easier to ask again rather than try and find the answer. Is you car a DD or a weekend warrior? If it is the later you haven't even started to scratch the surface of what can be done.

If you are doing a v8 are you doing a kit? If you are not using the car as a DD why not build a factory five car? They have some killer kits and money being an object, it will take you some time to finish it so it will keep you interested.

Well I'm not exactly parting/selling it yet lol, just thinking about it.
Its a weekend warrior.
I want v8 cause I think its badass. Great reason huh?
I've considred the factory five kits and the more I think about them the more they make sese.

For now I'm just enjoying my car and weighing the options.
The car feels/drives/sounds great. I'm not in a hurry

Sorry to say and please don't ban me...the GT went lame after Mr. Van Winkle used it. Notch backs are where it's at. People wouldd pay heafty summs for a nice notch back.

Nice car though. And Moroso has one "s".

Just and idea, but the guy that sold me my Miata traded his 944 race car for the Miata and sold it to me. Point being, he wasn't able to get the 944 sold because it's hard to sell race/highly modified cars, so he traded it instead he traded it for something easier to sell, and sold that. Maybe that'd work for you.

The car is PENDING SALE

Shortly after making this thread I was contacted by 3 different people about buying it. 1 of those 3 just sent me a deposit for it and is flying down to pick it up in a couple weeks.

So yeah.........LOL

Well if that's the case, then you need to share with us how much you let it go for.

I'm thinking probably october at the soonest. I want to do as much research as I can, weigh and consider ALL options, and carefully plan everything out. Obviously there are snags and unpredictabilities with a project of this caliber, but I want to know at least somewhat about what I'm getting into.

Its possible I may go with a completely different platform altogether: like a f5 shelby cobra kit car or something like that. Nothing is off the table
