I am pretty sure the MS3x can do sequential fuel and spark for a v8 can't it? Time for you to build a one off.

i'm just going to sell mine outright when the time comes. It will be a big loss, but hey, you pay to play. I've realized that the fun for me is the project, and it seems a lot of people share this. So it ends up costing me 5k over a few years. Other hobbies cost money too. Golf....don't get me started on the expense. The point is, hobbies are an excuse to **** money away on something you enjoy.

I just hope that someone will enjoy all the work that I have put into doing it right.

Sell it as a whole, let someone else enjoy it. Another option is to see what you could get on an outright swap. I've thought about putting mine on craigslist as a "trade only" no cash. Just to see what might be offered up.

After 7 years of ownership I still enjoy my car on a daily basis, so its no wonder I've never thought about selling it. Hence project forever.

You can go to mautofied.com (i think that is how it is spelled) and do only trades, and perhaps find you another cool project.

Its a weekend warrior.
I want v8 cause I think its badass. Great reason huh?
I've considred the factory five kits and the more I think about them the more they make sese.

For now I'm just enjoying my car and weighing the options.
The car feels/drives/sounds great. I'm not in a hurry
The f5 cobra has always peaked my interest, the car is just pure sex. But I love my miata, when I drive it I feel like a predator just waiting to snap up any prey that gets to close. Shoot my car started life as an automatic, converted to 5 speed, converted to f20, converted to f20 turbo. The next step will be large wheels and tires, body kit, then paint. Once there, I can turn up the boost if I need more fun, or get bored with the car. It will be interesting to see how I feel about it once I stand back and say, "there, it's done".

Like most of us in the build section, it seems to be mostly about the build.

Too bad your gettin' rid of it, it's easily one of the best looking cars on MT.net.

LSx or 5.0 for the swap? Cobra's are cool but I'd personally prefer an LS1 in a NA or NB, I wouldn't want to not be able to drive my project car because it's not assembled for long periods of time. Maybe I'd go for the F5 and a cheap NA to beat on.

Thanx man.

Whatever I get will most likely have an LS motor.
However, my father has a 2003 Lexus ls430 4.3 v8 sitting in the backyard that I can have if I want it
Downside is its auto and would probably be hard to wire into something like a miata.
Upside? Its free, has plenty of lowend/midrange grunt, and sounds orgasmic with itb's

LS>Toyota 4.3

without checking. Willing to bet the LS1 is lighter more powerful and smaller.

Im not a big LSx fan but will admit they are hard to beat. Do an ITB setup on an LS its not very common, but anythings possible.

Ive seen over 500whp NA on LS2s using stock GM heads (no porting), stock bottom end, and a cam and bolt ons.

I keep considering selling the Z28 and buying an NA to boost but everytime I take the Z28 and and run her to 7K I change my mind. So the new plan is a NA as a DD, and once I get it and tell myself Im going to leave it alone, Ill end up modding it and then Ill have to buy another DD, just like the Z28 and the Blazer and damn near every car Ive ever owned.

that's the thing though: maximum power is not my goal.
Just like with my current setup: I could have easily pushed for 350-370 or something but I am PERFECTLY happy with 307 and it feels phenomenal IMHO.

With a v8 I want effortless acceleration, and shittons of power/torque under the curve. I don't care if all it runs is 13's or something like that, the point is to have stupid amounts of torque so that I can shift at like 2k rpm and it would still push you back.

I don't know how to explain it. I think it can best be described as HOT ROD or MUSCLE CAR, or whatever. I know half of you guys will call me crazy, and I could give a ****, cause I know what I want and I will have it

Check this out, this makes me ******* all warm and fuzzy

It ONLY makes 360whp. Nothing to impress you guys. But look at how EFFORTLESSLY it does that. He's not flooring it, and he's not winding it out, he's just pedaling it at low rpm then steps on it.

I want that

If you want effortless torque, get as much displacement as you can.

An LS2 would be perfect. That's really all there is to it. 4.3 would give torque, but that engine wants to be wound out. Muscle cars feel that way because of big cubes, plain and simple.

Then you want an LS. They all have lots of low end, but when you want to wind them out they are more than happy with the RPM.

Cubes make low end.

**** I only have 350 and I have a large cam that doesnt come on 3500 and I can still cruise around at 1800rpm in 6th gear at around 70.

Or you could build one of these (Buddies NA LS2)

Over 400rwtq from 2700 to 6800 and 380rwtq at 2200 rpm.

That was through a broken rear end. Has since had lots of tuning and a few changes and we expect over 630rwhp NA.

Ran 182 (IIRC) at the standing mile in a 4th gen body with wide as flares up front and 11 wheels all around.

Be pretty wicked in a miata
