That price just seems unrealistically low for a plane with jet engines. Even if it needs work.

I know nothing of planes, but it would seem to me that buying a bargain basement fighter jet might not be the most wise of moves. :)

Id rock it

It hasn't flown in 7 years and could be made airworthy in a "few days"? My entire 400person maintenence departement couldn't get that thing ready to fly in a "few days". It needs the equivalent of a full body-off resto. It's probably mostly aluminum with some titanium and a few other alloys, things that corrode and fatigue overnight if not properly maintained.
Short of several hundred thousand dollars worth of work, there's no way an FAA inspector would certify that aircraft as safe. Hell, a new paintjob is probably more than the asking price!

werd.

it's not really that bad, but it's going to need a major looking over, not anything like a D check though.

it's regged as an experimental so... there's not so much to do once you get it back in annual.

the real question is: what is a jet a/c doing IN A FIELD.

LOLA - 92 06-14-2007 08:52 PM

What's up with the binocular periscope above the instrument panel?

so the guy in the back can see beyond the guy's head up front.

BTW there are a BUNCH of FAA requirements before you can fly a surplus mil jet.

this of course would be much cooler.
