Default picked on a Porsche saturday night!!

I decided to take a drive down State last night enroute to picking some things up from walmart. I thought I would follow a dark colored Carrera as he was turning left onto 45th from state. He got on it as he saw me coming up next to him and I had about half a car on him at 80. We both turned right on 7th east and caught a light after the curve, from a stop he had about a car length on me at 100, but I also missed 3rd and had to correct it. I thought a 997 with 300+hp would tear me a new one , but I was not impressed at all. My car has maybe 160rwhp. Now I just need to get this thing sold so I can start fresh with the t3 car.

I know almost nobody is familiar with any of these roads, but thought I would post it anyway.

I've played with some fast cars in my miata, and have had good runs against 996s, but I'd expect a 997 to dust my ***.

Most of the faster cars around here won't waste their time screwing with some Miata. Shame.

I know he was getting on it, but he should have easily pulled away more. Then again, I was pulling 2.2 60's at the track last summer with 185's on the rear, so knowing how to drive goes a long way. If I was driving a higher class car and heard a bov, I would definitely get on it to see what the guy has. Once I get my 60 trim setup put together it will be very fun to see who can keep up.

Usually when I'm in my mustang I just laugh and toy with lesser power cars. I know they usually assume it's just a mustang, especially ricers (little do they know) My favorite, I had a guy on a vette playing chase on a back country road, I know he expected to beat me in the curves, again, little did he know, I did the brakes and suspension first. Bottom line, I'm sure many guys have gone home thinging they were hanging with me.

I know it's different wherever you go, but around here it's pretty much white trash(with bad grammar and spelling) who drive Mustangs, very few are actually fast. I see more Exotics than Mustangs downtown, but we also have one of the few Lotus and Maserati dealers in the west. Not to mention the Porsche and Ferrari dealers are downtown as well. I have had guys on bikes that can't hang on the curve going to my house, nothing really to brag about there. Funny thing is you can guy 3 Mustangs for the price of a Corvette....

Here in CT it ranges from rich kids in shitboxes that they think are fast, and the rich kid's father in the Porsches, Ferraris, Aston martins, etc. Its always fun when I take drives up toward Greenwich and Stamford...usually I'll see a dozen exotics or more in the trip.

I laughed one time when a guy in a Aston martin revved at me. To even look at my car...let alone rev at me. I was flattered from that one.
Always fun to beat the guys in the cars that cost 5x more!

Thanks man!

Made $500 lastnight and already spent it. Just bought my AAC CF flush headlights. A guy from France paid me $60 for a broken ipod. I clearly stated it was taken apart, broken screen and HD, sometimes I dont understand...lol. I'm trying to list about 12-24 items a week, ranging from automotive to comicbooks. Being out of work from surgery doesn't help my miata obsession!

You missed the whole point. It's not about mustangs. My point is, unless you stopped to chat with the guy you don't know if he was really running or toying with you

Again, I guess you missed the point. No I don't pull over everytime I have an encounter of the sort, but occasionally it happens. In the case I mentioned with the vette we actually conversated before and after. But the point is, unless you had an opportunity to chat with the guy you don't know how much effort he was putting into racing you, so I wouldn't be to excited about it.

Not sure what the Ahem? means. If you doubt my mustang put down 608 rwhp on a dyno you shouldn't. It's not that difficult with 358 ci built motor and a turbo. That was actually a conservative tune and less than 10psi. There more in it. My build up is captured on another site if you like to see it.

Yes and no. Sometimes you can just hear it when the other guy is pushing it.
This is just from my own experience. I had a guy in a sti pass me on the highway and give me that "hahaha little car" look. Minding my own business I decided to romp on it, caught him, passed him, kept going, then proceeded back into the slow traffic lane. Once he was next to me he gave me the thumbs up and took off. I assume he was pushing it pretty hard, cause he was dumping black smoke and I could hear him revving the **** out of the car.

Not to mention....talk is cheap. The other guy could always say he was 1/2, 3/4 throttle when in fact he was all out sweating to death.

All true, not saying maybe this porshe was not all out...but the OP should consider that he may not have been and not read to much into his performance. From what he says he has for a setup, and from what the porshe "should" be able to do, the porshe "should" have made easy work of him. There have been times when I thought I faired well against a vehicle only to encounter him again and found out, the first time was not a good indicator because he took off the kid gloves and smoked me. I guess I rained on the parade because I didn't jump in enthusiastically about how our little mighty machines are hanging with porsches...my bad.
