few odds and ends, its a base model so no luxury stuff like power mirrors, windows, dimmer, abs, etc etc etc. the repaint is descent but you can tell right away.

3700, with 120K, FL car, previous owner (50-yo lady) owned since 96.

1991, no emblem, should have the mazda sticker under the driver light.

putting together a list of things to do, considering adding a Super Pro bushing kit when i swap the suspension. I'll at least do a coolant reroute and water by-pass. Will keep the P/S off and hopefully have a pretty solid machine. Just gotta sell old parts to buy new goodies.

l_bader 02-02-2008 10:02 PM

Good luck with the (re)build, Dr Frankenstein!

Glad to hear you finally found the replacement.

Why are the tow hooks painted?

MX_Eva 02-03-2008 12:30 AM

Good stuff Scott. Let me know if you want some help switching some stuff over, the hour some drive would be no big deal at all. I'm game so long as you have some way to heat your garage.

yep, pretty much matched what they told me, no accidents own since 96. some old lady drove it so it was in good shape. so always took it to the dealer for service and at 120K the shocks aren't even blown.

So, I am guessing you went over it with a fine toothed comb then to check for prior damage? Owner told you that it was resprayed or you had to tell him?

If the car was in an accident, carfax wont tell you unless it was reported to insurance.

I am not trying to rain on your fun, I am just looking out for your best interest.

Braineack 02-03-2008 12:28 PM

she knew it was resprayed, she had it done about 3 years ago. she said it was showing its age and she wanted to pretty it up again, she had to replace the top because someone cut it and wanted to redo the paint at the same time. I couldn't find evidence to debate it. You can see older door dings and imperfections were sprayed right over.

Saml01 02-03-2008 12:37 PM

Yes, i see. Well ok, as long as its all good. Then Mazeltov.

kotomile 02-03-2008 01:42 PM

I need to clean space out of the garage, will probably pull the MS and the rollbar and install this saturday.

then I gotta figure out a date where all you bastards can help me with the suspension and engine.

y8s 02-04-2008 10:10 AM

subframe swap. less bolts.

bhut2180 02-04-2008 10:26 AM

Are you going to take the ps rack from your other car nad put it on? At least keep the ps ratio... the non-ps ratio sucks!

Braineack 02-04-2008 11:58 AM

yeah it was a thought. i gotta figure out what is involved and what's the easiet way to go about it....

Doppelgänger 02-04-2008 12:01 PM

I don't imagine it would be terribly hard, esp. when you've got everything apart to swap suspensions. If i was in Va, i'd come help ya!

Braineack 02-04-2008 12:17 PM

yeah. i know it's not hard. im trying to figure if i can just swap parts into the current one.

thanks for the offer. nothign ill be doing is terribly difficuilt, but getting it all done in one weekend would be a bonus. hopefully beer and pizza will convince a few locals to help out.

plus the local vultures want my parts so....

Zabac 02-04-2008 12:19 PM

Start spraying WD-40 now!!!1! lol
especially on your broken diff to get the housing out of the carrier for an easy swap
other than that, allt he suspension stuff

Braineack 02-04-2008 12:22 PM

shouldnt be hard, i have air tooolz. plus my car only has 83k and no rust whatsoever. diff only has about 3-4k on it. hell i only have 10k turboed miles in 3 years :)

Zabac 02-04-2008 12:28 PM

you needz to drivez mawre

Braineack 02-04-2008 12:29 PM

the lulz because it's true.

but now i'm all sad because my car is like 10 yrs newer and has the same mileage.

magnamx-5 02-04-2008 01:24 PM

For real one of these days we will get to drive our cars without fucking something up. FWIW i did 15K on my car before the motor blew. I have yet to hit 3K on the new one and already bought new rods for it. Does this shit ever end

I already contacted this guy.. cause hell I would buy it for that.. his response:

"It has 16k on engine. 160k on body."

Newbsauce 02-04-2008 01:38 PM

For the record: As I was robbing parts from Scott's garage last night I checked out the car. The paint looks pretty damn mint to me... I think someone is just being a whiner!

you know me :greddy:

92mazdarati 02-04-2008 02:24 PM

Congrats-
sounds like option wise your car is a lot like what mine was. Mine is a 91', Steel wheels, no power steering, no power windows, but mine does have A/C, what about yours? Mine was previously owned by a 50 year old lady as well who did all the service at the dealership(stealership) I was provided with about $3200 in receipts just from the dealer service when I bought it. Looks like the top on yours is in pretty good shape, the previous owner of mine put in robbins glass rear-window top shortly before I bought it. I picked up my car for $3200 w/ some cheesy aftermarket 15" ICW wheels and new tires. My paint is in great condition, but probably not as great as yours. If you can transfer the power steering I would do it. have fun man

Drive more. I have the same mileage in 7 months, and my car's been broken for at least a month of that.

Pitlab77 02-04-2008 08:05 PM
