I'm not really sure- It's a 427 body style so Hallibrands would be correct, I think, but I'm not a huge fan of them. I might just throw the whole "authenticity" thing to the wind (it's a replica, with BMW independent suspension and a fiberglass body; there's nothing authentic about it) and put something else on it, maybe 16 or 17" to update it a little but still keep some sidewall.

I know it's mostly because of his exposure on the tee vee, but I think Chip Foose does modernized vintage pretty well in some cases.

Since most of us can't afford any of this shit, we should live vicariously through pinky and have a mt.net vote for what you should get next.
I vote a factory 5, either this: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374596482 Or this: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374596482 Although honestly, it seems to me like this would be more your steeze: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374596482 |

I did have a chance to look over their hot rod though, and it looks like a nice piece. If I was going to build a F5 it would definitely be that one. |

Plus you know they come in gigantic diameters and widths if he's making them.

Yes please - Cobra's need some sidewall to look proper.

So far that's the problem I'm having looking for wheels so far; finding decent looking wheels in a 5x120 BMW pattern that aren't huge. I'm thinking like 17's max so it doesn't look Donk-ish.

If you're the guy I think you are, you've probably already taken measurements to fit a 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern...
A buddy suggested white OZ Superlegerras or white Kosei K1's, both inexpensive, lightweight wheels, but they both seem too "DTM/Euro-ricer" to me.. I'd love to spring for a cool set of real modular wheels, like some Keizers or something, but the roads here suck a little, and I don't want to bend $500 rims every other week. |
Real wire wheels. They look cool as hell, but are a major pain-in-the-ass to keep clean.

I really like the style of these retro-ish Ridler 695's, but they're chevy 120's, not BMW 120's. Yes, they're probably heavy as crap, but they make a 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 that would look amazing.. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1374619646 |

Well Ladies, do I have a story to tell you...
Quick recap; traded a couple cars for a couple cars. Said cars arrive on a semi-truck yesterday. Cobra is first off, hauler allows me to drive it off the truck, just because Cobra. Runs good. I drive it off, go 20 yards to turn around, it makes a hellatious noise and the left front wheel falls off. The. Wheel. Fell. Off. I've hated these wheels from the moment I saw the car, and sure enough, not only are they wrong aesthetically they're also wrong fitment wise. In order to clear the BMW suspension they had to add 1/2" spacer, resulting in the wheel bolts only engaging about 2-3 threads. Plus they used a weird mismatch of ball head Mercedes type bolts in cone seat wheels. It's the scariest goddamned thing I've ever seen. Anyway, I dragged a jack and tools up the 200 yard long driveway and got it back together enough to drive it on my lift and get the wheels off. Bonus: it's really nice otherwise. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1375477010 |

The Corvette is an entirely different story; not only have the wheels stayed on, it is actually much nicer than I thought. A couple bugs to work out, but really minor stuff. (The original leather seats are in great shape, no rips, but really dry, etc..). Purists will cringe, but it's got a retro-mod vibe that I like.
So, presented as evidence of my Middle Aged White Guy demographics, is my corvette. Two words I never expected to say together. Because, corvette. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1375477492 |
