Default motorist swerves and hits motorcycle

He doesn't like it that a motorcyclist violates a law that supposedly prevents crashes, and causes one himself to teach him a lesson.

Fast forward to 1:40:

Never ceases to amaze me that some people never gain the ability to consider consequences of their action BEFORE they commit. How could somebody do that without ever thinking they could kill somebody?

Wow... Talk about road rage. He's probably one of those ******** that sits in the left lane on the expressway too and slows down when you tailgate them

I saw the video last night and was wondering the same. I can't imagine trying to argue anything less than attempted murder (assuming the riders both lived).

Found this, but still pretty vauge:

http://q13fox.com/2015/10/19/i-dont-...ng-motorcycle/

GRANBURY, Texas (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a car veered into a motorcycle on a rural North Texas road, an incident captured on video that left two people injured.

Eric Sanders, the driver of the motorcycle, contends the car’s driver swerved intentionally. He suffered abrasions in the collision that left his girlfriend in a Fort Worth hospital with a broken wrist and deep arm lacerations.

GRAPHIC WARNING: The following video contains language some viewers may find objectionable. Viewer discretion advised.

Sanders said the crash happened Saturday afternoon on a two-lane county road about 5 miles north of Granbury. A video shows the motorcycle passing a car, which then veers left over a double yellow center line, upsetting the motorcycle and sending the riders into the roadway.

Dub Gillum, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the agency has seen the video. He says that the investigating trooper will meet with prosecutors Monday and that the car’s driver could face felony charges.

What does passing on doubles have to do with anything? Yes it is illegal. But on the scale of severity, manslaughter is. Hell of a lot further up than crossing doubles.

And hey, the driver of the car crossed doubles too!

I think Dann was just in awe that someone would hit another motorist just because he passed him on a double yellow. I don't think he was justifying it.

Clearly the driver of the car deserves to be charged with a criminal offense (or die a slow painful death), but technically speaking, he did not hit the bike; he swerved in front of it and the bike ran into the back corner of his car. He essentially brake checked him. I'm not suggesting in any way that it mitigates his culpability, just that everyone seems to be saying he hit the bike, as in directly.

It's amazing the amount of rage that slow drivers have for people passing them. I get it both in the Miata and on my bike (been riding for 30+years)

I had a very similar thing happen to me over 10 years ago when trying to pass a guy who had been doing 10-15mph under the speed limit for several miles and refused to use any of the numerous turnouts we passed. I finally attempted to pass him in a safe spot to do so, and he pulled into the opposing land and slammed on his brakes. Fortunately, I managed to stop (within about 6" of hitting his bumper) in time. At the time I was doing trackdays monthly on the bike and was pretty good on the brakes. The average street rider would have been toast.

I took every bit of self control I possessed not to drag him out through the driver's window and beat him to death on the spot.

Regardless of the rider's traffic offense for passing on a double yellow (which is actually legal in some states, BTW), what the driver did would qualify for several Felonies in AZ.

Asshats like that are everywhere. I don't know why they're so butthurt over people wanting to go faster than they are. When I'm driving my dually, I'm happy to get out of the way for someone. I can't imagine purposely keeping someone stuck on my ***.

I first want to state that the old mans actions are in no way justifiable in any way shape or form and i do believe felony charges should be brought upon him.
With that being said.

Not legal in Texas.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Obviously i hate seeing riders get hurt. But i also hate seeing riders ride poorly and make poor choices. Every time i see a rider wheelie and crash i have little sympathy.
EVERY SINGLE time i'm riding and i can't safely maneuver around slower vehicles i take it as an opportunity to stop. I really hope the driver of the car gets the book thrown at him, but let it be a lesson to all the other riders out there to RIDE SAFE!

This is the reason I don't ride on the street anymore.
The 2nd last time I rode my dirt bike, I flew off it and 1 second later I'm laying on the ground looking up at it wedged between a cutout in the dirt bank I was attempting to climb.
No ******** trying to run me off the road...nothing more than a few scratches. Coal dirt and asphalt/ vehicle impact are 2 different things.
That guy is the reason why my center console has a firearm in it.
