I have this for portable air.

Craftsman Horizontal Air Compressor: Bring Power to the Job with Sears

In fact, it gets the most use. Pumps up fairly quick, easy to move around, has decent CFM for it's size. Normally just use it for filling tires and blowing things off. Not at all meant for sanding, or heavy air tools. I've actually ran this off my inverter that plugs into the 12v on my car (while running) and it worked fine. I suppose one could use it at an autocross. I think some of the negative reviews are from idiots who don't put the oil in it. Also you really need to teflon tape the shit out of the lines. Though i'd assume that's normal.

This will be going on a landscaping trailer, so primarily it'll be used for changing mower blades, airing up the tires, etc.

Not sure if that one would be big enough or not.

Yeah, probably opt for the "next size up" or so. This one is good for garage duty and little things around the house. Not so much commercial.

Dont buy the 3 gallon pancake from harbor freight because it sucks.

I bought a unit essentially identical to this about 10 years ago: Portable Air Compressor, 2 Horsepower, 8 Gallon, 125 PSI

I don't use it a lot, maybe a couple of times a month. It's held up quite well, though. It's just barely adequate to run a big impact wrench (you have to pause quite frequently to let it air up in between bolts) however it's more than sufficient for simple tasks like filling tires.

my 1986 ford bronco is the most mobile but lowest gas mileage air compressor... EVAR! (converted the A/C compressor into an air compressor w/ a 2 gallon tank for off roading)

Stay away from the 5 gallon green POS "110 psi 3.5hp" air compressor from harbor freight, thing cant run pneumatic tools for shit.
