In Praise of olderguy!

I recently installed an emanage and autotune that I purchased used of miata.net. I contacted Bruce and he was very nice to give me some tips and a base map. After getting it installed I had problems with the car bogging under boost. Well 20 or so emails later Bruce helped me sort it out. Answering some really basic questions and walking me through exactly how the autotune and o2 clamp worked. With out him it would have taken me a VERY long time ti figure out what was wrong.

The problem was that I had tapped the wrong ground for the emanage, that in turn caused the o2 voltage to be low. The autotune always thought I was running lean and dumping extra fuel all the time. Tapped the proper ground and things are so much better.

I'm really impressed with Bruce. I've never bought anything from him and he spent a lot of time helping me out. I hope everyone here knows what an awesome resource we have in Bruce. People like Bruce are what makes this forum and community what it is.

 Bruce!

He spends ungodly amounts of time making sure everything is perfect with those autotunes. I sure don't have the patience to do it.

I know, I sort of beta tested it :p

Agreed... Been validating results. Asking for help... and getting unbelievable support.....

You rule OG. <G>

Althugh Jay, which ground did you tap? I'm curious to see what caused the "rich" all the time part?

Dave,

Thanks Guys. I think Jay's richness was caused by the fact that the ground side of his oxygen sensor was encountering a high resistance getting back to his ECU. This not only caused the signal to be lean to the Emanage when it was rich, but also to his ECU in normal driving mode.

I know that a lot of harping is done on the fact; but the first thing you need to do with any control system is to make sure that all your grounds are good and continuous. It is one half of all your circuits.

I tapped 2B when I originally had my bipes installed. Since that worked I just used the same one. It's a ground, just no the RIGHT ground. I'm going to go through all the grounds and clean them up just as a precaution.
