i don't know why it even bothers me, those guys are just like some of the guys i work with, they don't give 2 shits if the car can stop and turn as long as it's got a big engine and is loud they are happy. they can't wrap their head around someone wanting anything else.

THIS is why I love owning a Miata. I have had a couple small incidents involving my car that turned violent, and I'm not proud of that. But I am proud to say I never once initiated any of them. Like the guy talking about breaking knee caps....I have a story to tell.

I was out with a old gf for a drive and had a jeep pull up next to me. The kid showed me his ass and talked some shit. Whatever, no big deal. Next red light the kid is behind me and decides to use his water bottle to throw water on me....OK motherfucker. I got out in the middle of the road and walked right up to the jeep. They threw it in reverse and just sat there terrified while I screamed at them to get the fuck out. I was going back to my car to get my hammer out of the trunk and they floored it. I ran at the car as they went by and threw a punch. Fucking cracked the back window. I got in my car and followed them to a parking lot with only one way in/out. I'm not sure what I was going to do, but I had the devil in my body. Luckily some lady pulled up and said "look at her crying, take her home", talking about my gf. Like a god sent kind of feeling. During this the kids drove over the curb and left, I just let them be.

Moral of the story being. Watch your mouth, you never know who your fucking with until their right in your face ready to kill you. Talk about breaking knee caps....lol. What a fucking threat. I drive my car to enjoy it, but if someone wants to get stupid, I wont hesitate for a second to send you to the hospital. :vash:

I get fucked with pretty frequently. I think its because the seat is bolted to the floor and the aggressors don't expect a 192lb, 5'10 driver to get out. They usually drive off when that happens because I am not smaller than average. 2 years of TKD and 2 years of Muay Thai make things more interesting too.

Anyways, the bullshit that occurred on both forums was funny to read, and it looks like there are some reasonable-minded enthusiasts over there who can put together 2000lbs and 300whp (on a stock 1.6 motor) isn't all that slow. In any case, it looks like they've got just as much pride in their shit as we do in ours (gay pride for us, redneck pride for them).

Maybe after we get the kid all boosted up (and we will) he'll head back over there and crack some skulls for US... maybe even get us a convert or two...

NO, you missed my point. He was defending the Miata in that thread on his Malibu site for a while, saying it handled great, etc. but when everyone gave him crap about the "chick car" he went back to bashing. Read just the first few posts. THAT is what I meant. Only a Malibu guy could ever convince the other Malibu guys that Miatas are cool. None of us could do that. We don't have the Malibu cred.:giggle:

Why do I notice a pattern, that stories of drivers doing shit towards miata drivers happen in CT, RI, and thereabouts?

Cause alot of pampered kids around here have yet to get their asses kicked. I have yet to walk away from a conflict on the losing side. The kids in the Jeep had the look of death on their faces. Once I was out of the car screaming with my veins popping out of my neck, they wanted to get the fuck away from me. :vash:

In the past 4-5 years I have only had a handful of incidents. I more so have people asking me about the car, thumbs ups, waves, etc. Generally people like the car, and it is well known in my area. But there's always those couple of fucks that need a scare to put them in their place. ;)

Yes, sometimes I take it upon myself to educate NOOBs in my own way and without fail, I get return PM's thanking me for the insight and encouragement (until this kid).

I also usually link the FAQ, the m.net Garage, the Useful Saved Posts, and Begi and FM. I tell them the same things. Read, Search, Google, $$$, Goals, Skills, Purpose... and then make a good post.

I get 2-3 PM's a week from people wanting more information from one of the dozen or so writeups I've done, where to buy stuff, what T25 to buy, how does this work?, what does that do?, etc...

The only thing that happened here is that a 17yr old kid with no sense of humor and an inferiority complex couldn't get over the fact that somebody was trying to teach him something new and treating him like an adult in the process. But since I'm not infallible, and have been known to be wrong in the past, I'm punishing meself for trying to help NOOBs by staying away from them for 6 more days.

^ What we really need is an addition to the FAQ sticky answering all the common questions.

I actually wanted to sit down and dig up all the posts and threads I made from about 3 months ago and back. All my megasquirt and turbo related questions, take em, and compile them into a giant addition to the FAQ. Everything I have asked, and beaten to death is being once again dredged up by every new joiner.

Just need to find the time, so many questions.

Imho, in reference to the thread and the kid. Yea Samnavy was a bit tough, but I cant blame him for all the aforementioned reasons but noobs dont know so we have to do the same but softer and nicer.

Edit: We also have to make that FAQ a mandatory read before posting. Maybe even a small test before thread making privileges are granted. If one is serious, wants to learn and wants to stay, he/she wont mind doing these things.

I think this board is full of assholes, myself especially included. Its a car forum, and just like most other car forums, you need to have thick skin to survive. If we lose people because of that, especially the 17 year old in question, I'm certainly okay with that. I do appreciate that the posts on this board maintain an "above 3rd grade" reading level.

Moving out of danbury was one of my better decisions in life...too many rich kids/wannabe gangters/mexicans. Torrington isnt some kinda gem or anything but people generally are way more mellow and friendly here.

Danbury has a big Brazilian community here, largest in the USA actually, and working with them I have come to except the good ones.
