Previous German Car Owners?

I'm just curious how many of you Miata enthusiasts also have a fetish with German cars. I'm in the middle of the switch, It's hard, like cheating on your gf. :eek4:

you've owned one? E36? pics? I <3 the E36 M3. A couple of my buddies have em in alpine white with black leather.

My friend has a pretty modified E30 318is...I like to beat his ass around the corners with my miata...though he spanks me in the straights...we both have a competition to get turbo'd first :)

My mom has a '06 Beetle Conv't. My dad has a '07 Passat Wagon. My sister has a '06 Rabbit. I'm a fan of Mazdas myself, but the VW's sure are comfy. The only German sportscar I've driven is my buddy's Z3 which I taught him to drive stick in.

i know someone who has a turboed e30 and he was producing 320whp, started tuning it up from there closer to 400 until he finally blew his engine. The thing was insane fast though

I did the Miata thing and had to come back to German. VW's are cheap and easy to work on.

1966 VW Beetle.... 1600cc DP, Lightweight flywheel, and weber 44 IDF. Slower than hell and set off car alarms with the exhaust. I miss that car.

I have a Porsche 951 (944 turbo) that will be for sale as soon as I replace the head gasket. I bought it after I totaled the last Miata. The 951 is fast, handles well and is comfortable but it's just not as much fun as a Miata. Parts are also 2 to 3 times as expensive. So when a turboed miata became available at a great price I jumped on it. The 951, to show it's gratitude, blew the head gasket the next week. I think that if I ever had more disposable income and a turbo manifold / kit were available for it, I would like to have a Boxter.

I had an 02 GTI 1.8T taht I ought new - pretty good motor on a so-so suspension. I added a Shine RSS and TT shift arm, and was looking at some motor upgrades, when the electrical problems started - coil packs(towed twice - once on the Cross-Bronx), airbags sensor, seat-belt short(!), power windows...... The console started coming apart. Upgrades on hold.

One month after it was paid for, I sold it and bought an 01 Accord for a DD and 2 months later bought the Miata. Better deal.

Previous owner of a modded '98 Audi A4. I've been looking at Benz C32s recently for my next family sedan. Nothing like the solid feel of German cars.

you should've held out a little longer, then had VW buy it back under the Lemon Law. Tough luck. I also had a problem with my coil packs but replaced them and that was that.
