Default Pro tour muscle cars. Anybody run with one?

While at Barber I was passed (rather quickly) by a pro tour 68 roadrunner. I have a 69 charger in the garage and have thought about going this route. It's not cheap, but it appears that you can make these old cars very competitive on a road course.

Have any of you seen or run against on at your local track? What were your thoughts.

I've seen some beasts... but I'd rather spend less money making a lighter car faster.

Money is not the concern for this project. I love my miata, but hands down, I'd rather be in my charger any day. Especially if it could handle like a track car.

The big question is...... can these cars turn competitive lap times, or is it 30k invested to have a fun non-competitive car that also looks fantastic?

If it's the latter, then I would just turn my miata into a full race car, and cruise the charger.

Any car can be silly fast... if you are willing to spend the money on motor/brakes/suspension etc...

the XV stuff is pretty cool, but the boys at RMS that make the Alter-K-tion is the original. I am coming from A-body Mopar stuff and have seen plenty of Auto-X muscle cars. Personally I think it is bad ***. What do you have under the hood of that Charger?

Couple things erk me... no helmet on track.... and there was one shot showing the backend of the car going through a turn and BOY was it bouncy. Maybe it isn't fully sorted?

They did say that was the first time out since the 12 installments vids.
Bouncy, maybe so, but flat turning was very noticeable.
I'm with ya on the "lack of helmet" action.

Holy **** those are giant turbos. I'm running a 440 with 10:1 pistons, worked head, bigger than stock cam. I'd add aluminum heads, and a bigger cam when I redo the project. I was going to use a gear vendors unit with an auto, but I might have to go with a manual trans. This idea is very new to me, and I'm still in the research stage. It's a lot of money, but it would put both of my interests in one vehicle.

Thanks for the post. It also looks like these guys do i ta little cheaper as well. I think they use some off the shelf stuff rather than fabricating everything. XV is very proud of their products. 2G for a leather recaro race seat, I think I'll pass.

Who do you think makes the best products, or are they all about the same?

Personally I like RMS, they have been around for a long time and have a lot of praise in the Mopar community. XV is fairly new and as far as I know only do E-body stuff. They really came in the market when they started doing 5.7 HEMI swaps in E-bodies. They made the K-frame, wiring harness (or manifolds to run carbs) and all the other stuff to do the late model 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI swaps. Then they started making all the other suspension goodies

**edit** I stand corrected, I just checked out their website, they are making B and A body stuff now too

XV does B-body stuff as well. I'm not knowledgeable enough to see if there is would be a performance difference based on the technology one company uses over another. I will say that the RMS stuff appears to be aimed at the diy person.

From a cost stand point RMS seems to win hands down. Now I want a performance comparison. As we all know.....performance doesn't come cheap.

Valvetrain gets no respect.

Nothing sweeter than the sound of a high revvvvvving pushrod V8.

Do it!

I thought every car, other than yours, was a rolling road block when you are on the track.
