Pulled out my AC today
I pulled out the AC today on the '94 MOAB and it was much easier than I thought it would be, even though I had to remove the intercooler to get the condensor out.
The only mishap was the condensor falling on my fucking face when I removed the IC. I have a nice 2 inch gash on my left cheek.:ugh: Seeing how much it opened up the engine bay, it really has me considering pulling the PS too. |
I wish I can remove a/c on my car...any pictures of before/after?
|
Make sure to replace the bolts on the front of the engine, you'll develop a pretty good oil leak if you don't get a shorter bolt and fill the empty hole. (ask me how I know)

Next week when I start my install I am removing both the A/C and the P/S from my 90. Going to do the FM mod to the rack also. I have a new dash for my car as well so I will probably pull the evaporator as well while the dash is out.

Now you guys have me afraid of loosing all my oil on the interstate when I get my car running. I only spot 4 bolt holes where my AC bracket went. does anyone have a diagram of which bolt you are talking about, the one that goes through the oil pump?
|
only pull the ps if you track the car. It sucks on the street because you don't really need the feedback, but man its awesome on the track. With the extra feel I had much more confidence and more info through my hands on what the car was doing.
|
Well you are about 3 weeks late to tell me that. I have my 2000 if I need AC. I'm still wondering what bolt they are talking about on the 93 cars...
|
You will not develop oil leaks but will cause oil pump gear issues.

Hmmm... Don't remember having to remove any bolts on the front to remove the AC. Maybe the PS but only the alignment ones for it. I'll check again anyway. Thanks Tony.
And Hustler, your useless... Like always. :fawk: |

Yeah, just found it. Don't see how it goes through the bracket tho. there are only 4 bolts that go through my bracket and none on the front. But anyways I need to run to autozone to find a small hose for my idle air so I can get this thing running.

Hmmmmm......... I don't even have to look at the locations to realize...... Ya'll don't live in Texas. LOL
I put the turbo on the car so I would have enough power to drive with the AC. I am all about Airconditioning. Powersteering really doesn't matter. But you need it to tighten the AC, so I keep it too...! LOL |
