Ya looks like MB architecture has changed a bit since I last was researching.

As a side note, I am kind of regretting not grabbing this:

Nice specs, but not going to lie, watercooling is the most fun I ever had with my PCs. Got it to the point of insane reliability - setup has been running for 3.5 years straight, mostly 24/7 and I haven't even changed the water :giggle:

Apparently this case I got is great for water-cooling. So it may be in my future. Just not right now.

Phantom’s extensive cooling capabilities include 7 fan cooling options with dual 200mm, single side 230/200mm (NZXT only guarantees fitment with NZXT's FN-200), triple 120mm, and front 140mm fans. For enhanced control and expandability, NZXT includes dual radiator support, quad watercooling cutouts, and an integrated fan controller with up to five 20W channels.

I can't imagine why you'd need 'em.

Most MoBos I have seen place a heatsink on the Southbridge, and place the ship itself near enough to the CPU that it will be cooled by the air being drawn through the CPU fan. I have never had a fan on any of the main MoBo components except for the CPU itself. They just don't make all that much heat.

As for motherboards, why is there no love here for Intel? I've owned several Intel motherboards over the past decade, and they have all been rock-solid, with good driver support and intelligibly-written documentation.

Not hating on intel boards at all. I just like GIGABYTE. No real reasoning for me besides I've always bought them.

Not going to overclock for a bit.

I like the assembling it on carpet.

Don't hate. I like to assemble my PCs on carpet with a few dehumidifiers running while wearing rabbit fur pajama pants.

That HSF gives me a boner. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see it listed in the first post. Is it a Noctuna?

FRT_Fun 11-05-2011 07:25 PM

Meh this carpet is hardly carpet. Wasn't too worried about static electricity. I was actually assembling it on a desk, (the one pictured), but it was messy at the time so I put it on the ground.

Yes that is a Noctuna. Super quality product. I was worried about the weight of the HS, but they have a huge backing plate you have to install which spreads the weight.

Just set up Raid 0 on my 2X2TB drives. 4TB has never been so sexy.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig fans.

Fireindc 11-07-2011 01:38 PM

Looks nice man. I've been rocking a i3 sandy bridge 2120 and gtx460 for BF3 and I'm quite happy with it. Rocking max resolution, medium setting, 50-60fps. Game looks great, I can only imagine on maxxed out settings.

How's that SSD treating you? Is it really worth the price?

New rig specs:
i5 2500k
GTS450
12gb ram
some cooling shit
Win7 64bit

I take it you're using the SSD as your primary partition, is the bang worth the buck?

So I heard Coolermaster released a new HSF. It has over 9000 heatpipes.
