Congrats!

olderguy 10-19-2006 08:22 AM

Congrats and good luck. But, I won't be driving over to trade parts next time.

chuckerants 10-19-2006 09:53 AM

Irvine? Oh Lord.

Be prepared for a whole 'nother attitude. Having lived in that area for many years, I can tell you that the traffic sucks BIGTIME! It's no joke that when people ask how far someplace is in SoCal, they tell you in minutes, not miles.

However, Irvine has one of the best (and best paid) police departments in the country so be careful how you drive. But it is a very safe and nice area.

Good luck. LMK if you have any questions about the area.

be prepaired, your car more than likely wont pass smog in this state.

kung fu jesus 10-19-2006 09:15 PM

already prepared for that (CARB and smog)

i will miss north carolina. only lived here 3 years, but i really enjoy the people and the culture.

i'm no stranger to california either. my mother grew up there and have spent a lot of time there over the years. most of her family still lives there.

for my career, i need to move back to a big market and this is the opportunity i've been waiting for.

besides, it moves my wife and i one step closer to moving to australia in the next 10 years or less.

Good luck in SoCal. I remember when Orange County actually used to have orange trees along the freeways.

You'd never drag me back to Kalifornia.

Irvine is extremely well maintained - Very neat and tidy - The landscapers make a ton of money. Oh, and the city is huge.

Lola was So.Cal born and raised.

Spoken like a true Zonie:)
I've been in Virginia Beach he last nine months and my next duty station damn well better be San Diego or I'll be a "Mr. Sam" instead of "LT Sam". The rest of the country can lick my year-round suntanned ballz... SoCal all the way!!!! I'm coming back soon, baby!!!!

And I've only been living here since April - 6 months. I LOVE it here!

I grew up in South Central, then our family moved to Mission Viejo, then I lived in Fullerton/Anaheim. Though South OC is fine, it's a little too much "planned" and not enough "community". * FYI - South Orange County cities like Irvine are "Planned Communities" owned for the most part by Donald Bren and the Irvine Company.
