Default Evasive maneuvers in traffic, anyone?

I had lunch with a friend yesterday in SLO, and as I was pulling out of the parking lot I came to a fork in the lot. The little white Civic started to slow a little, so I accelerated lightly to get in front.

As I made a right onto the road, I heard a horn honk, and when I look in my mirror the passenger in the car behind me is hanging out of his window yelling obscenities. My friend yells back "What the ****?" because we have no ******' idea what this guy wants.

While I'm staring at him through the rear view mirror with the biggest "wtf" look on my face, he throws his door open (in traffic) and gets out of his car.

I have a car about 3ft in front of my nose, and once he threw the door open I decided I no longer wanted to be a participant in the situation.

As far as what happened next, I'll let the photo speak for itself.

OEM 4.1 torsen. That's on Foothill right at the corner of Foothill and Santa Rosa. Highway 1 is off to the left, downtown to the right. I had lunch at Kona's.

mmm konas. too bad they got rid of the canoes though.

i thought that was bishop in the bg but i couldn't tell.

by the way, if you ever have time to kill and want a fun drive, check out prefumo canyon road up off los osos valley rd. 10 yrs ago it was quite the deserted stretch of twisties between laguna lake and avila.

hope this link works.

I make it a habit to keep enough room between myself and the vehicle in front of me allways leavening an escape rout. Although in this situation, I believe I would have pulled the Glock out from between the passenger’s seat and the transmission tunnel, chambered a round, and would have stood my ground. There is just something special about watching a teenage kid go from thinking he is a bad *** to pissing his pants, when he is looking down the barrel.

Haha, I don't blame ya man. I'd be pissed if something happened to my car. Then again I have a very short temper and i've nearly gotten in a fight with a 18wheeler driver in the middle of the road because he kept running up and almost hitting my rear bumper.

Find a friend who has your back no matter what, cheaper then buying tires everytime you get into a bad situation.
