They think that they can get all of the money they spent for parts. What you think someone will pay you retail price for something you bought a year ago?

Looking at the list it only has maybe 3k parts in it (retail price) so i take it the dude also wants to be paid labor too or some ----.

At most, I'd call that a $6500 car. If that.

NA6C-Guy, you're still a grand too much, at least.

People inherently tend to over-estimate the value of their own cars, especially when they've invested a lot of time & money into it and view their creation as "perfect" or "special."

Realistically speaking, that's a 22 year old car with a hotside M45 supercharger. I see an AFM under the hood, and a narrowband O2 display gauge on the pillar. The so-called "brand new Mazda Speed engine" in it is clearly a 1.6. Fortunately for him, the sort of person who'd likely be interested in this car won't know to look for those things.

The interior looks to be in decent shape, but there's at least $3k worth of exterior body damage that needs to be repaired.

To the "right" buyer, that's maybe a $4,000 car.

But we'll see.

Well, to be fair, people have to list high to give some wiggle room. And don't underestimate the value of a car that has been taken care of vs. one that has been driven hard and let go.

It's old, but looks to be in decent condition. It's boosted already, although could use a standalone. There's a real roll bar. Joe may not like the body kit, but it does look to have been put on correctly. Paint looks good.

I paid nearly 3 grand for my plain '94. No boost, beat up, and it was in very bad need of simple maintenance and cleaning. I've put lots of time in, and bought thousands in parts, but it's still not boosted. So, for $4-5k, you'd have a driver. If I had to do it over, I'd consider it for that range.

Yellow Miata topic-

At first, I thought it was an original Sunburst and pretty clean. Looking closer and seeing it was a silver car to begin with killed it for me. The interior needs to be cleaned up and some of that **** removed. I'd say a $5k car to someone who "just has to have it". If were an original Sunburst...or a 1.8 chassis and the original color (even with the body kit), I could see a higher price. I'll never understand why people will spend good money on paint/body work and change the color of a car and leave it painfully obvious that it was once a different color....such a waste of money. But I've been seeing the CL ad for that thing for a long time...clearly no one around here is interested in it.

You fools think I could get more than book for my pile?

Someone asked me how much I wanted for my car last week. I said 175.000 Euros.
He did not bother me after that.

I'm on the fence about selling mine myself.

When I ask $20k, please don't post my ad and give me grief about it. KTHNX.

That would be two hundred and nineteen thousand one hundred eighty seven dollars and fifty cents, on today's exchange rate. Cash, up front.

Here's a quick preview of the head porting, knife edging and port matching done to my cylinder head:

Intake manifold and throttle body have been "massaged" as well.

Flow bench results yield a 40 cfm increase per port. Real life testing will commence soon.

In Europe, they use the "." in the same way that Americans use the "," and vise-versa.

So one thousand would be 1.000 whereas ten and a half would be 10,5

So yeah, a hundred and seventy-five thousand Euro is a lot of money, even at current exchange rates.

I know, just pointing it out subtly. Maybe a bit too subtly, seems to have gone right over his head.
