Time for Random Scenes of City Life.
A thing that allows you to suck the snot out of your infant's nose using your mouth:
An electric thing which appears to be built on a VW sandrail-type chassis, probably has very poor performance at only 72 volts, and which has a few cheap solar cells tacked on mostly for show:
You know it's springtime in NYC when the horse **** appears on 42nd st:
A hilariously-expensive water bottle holder for your bicycle. It's $50 because it's made of carbon-fiber, and therefore weighs several grams less than the $6 version made of aluminum:
Shoes which give the appearance of being made from carbon-fiber, and cost less than the water bottle holder (but weigh more):
I opened the box last week:
Midtown:
Camrae:
The signboard on top of a taxi:
Closer view:
These two things perform a conceptually similar function, yet are separated in cost by a very large amount. One is more stylish, and represents a much higher level of sophistication and technological achievement. The other has a basket to haul groceries, and is equipped with fenders to keep its rider's *** dry when operating on wet roads. Comparing them to one another is like comparing a Toyota Corolla to a street-legal F1 car:
(Andrew will no doubt be along shortly to insult me for posting this.)
Also, this is kind of hilarious:

The bulbs suck at sucking.
I gag when I imagine that hose, but its really the best way to do it. But I am waiting to find something like this instead, with an opaque canister. I dont' want to see all the snot.
