A Turk helping an Aussie embed an image on a North American forum.

The future is actually pretty cool, despite the lack of hoverboards.

This is nothing compared to three Americans from two different states helping me acquire a rear deck carpet for my car.
And, by helping, I mean bringing it all the way to my front door...

Careful, I think Erdoğan may have imposed a strong tariff on carpet imports in response to Trump's most recent duty on chickens and pickup trucks.

Speaking of which, ever have duck wings? I mean, prepared in the style typical of "Buffalo" chicken wings in the US. I hadn't until tonight. Friggin' amazing. I love duck to begin with, but these were just on another plane.

Had a pretty similar thought last night, when I took the train out to Des Plains (the 'burbs) to enjoy dinner & beers with an old friend who is in town on business. A couple sat down at a table near ours. Each one of 'em had to be in the neighborhood of 400 lb. Wasn't surprised when I saw their orders come out.

Anyway, random picture:

The reason behind that is the unfounded fear of cold almost all Turks have.

Cold is the source of all evil.
An open window means incurable pneumonia for most and they will never sit by an even slightly open window.

You could secretly dump a dozen open windows over China, and they would lose at least half their population in a couple weeks.
It could be that deadly....

Also, most people refuse to drink their beverages cold...

A cold beverage will rip your throat away and leave you mortally sick.
Every food and beverage establishment keep most of their beverage stock un-refrigerated.
People order a beverage and just add "not from the fridge".

I mean, if you take a shower and go out without completely drying your hair and waiting at least a couple hours, you will perish. Period.

They believe AC will make you sick, too. Flu sick.
I guess it was one of the transportation ministers who ordered the temps to be brought up in the planes back in the day if I'm remembering it correctly. .

Yeah, it is an interesting and fun place to live in to say the least.

And, I drive a convertible here. Imagine the horror.

This made me laugh. It's weird really; we have a LOT of similarities, but on that context we are in the absolute opposite side. People are having iced coffee all year round, and during summer you can freeze to death in almost any ferry boat here (Greece)

I was seriously sweating my entire flight home from Istanbul; it was miserable. I called the attendant to ask if they could do something about the temp twice -- I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts on the plane. In the airport it was hot and nasty as well. And everyone smelled like a unwiped *******.

to be fair, the spiced meat dinner on the plane was awesome, even if it almost made me puke a few hours later.

And God forbid a baby without shoes or booties. And protect the kidneys. Family from Austria and Bosnia. The mix of religion, atheism, science, and old wives tales is quite interesting in Europe / Eastern Europe.
