I am being 100%, completely serious here: My predecessor in this position was widely known for making bad decisions out of spite, after having been offered useful advice which ran counter to his assumptions. And this is the reason why he is now known as my predecessor.

The recently installed Liebert at our aux transmitter site at Hancock Tower does have the economizer coil option. And, furthermore, I can turn one key and open motorized louvers at both ends of the room which allow outside air to freely flow through it. (There's enough wind at the 93rd floor that fans are not needed.)

Retired two more ancient studio cameras this week.

Quite frankly, these were pieces of **** when they were new. Sony PMW-EX3s, which were intended for field use rather than studio installation. Why would we have bought nine of these pieces of ****, you may ask? Well, when it came time to install new HD cameras at WGN many years ago, my predecessor was fixated on the most expensive, most exotic Ikegami units available, and utterly refused to compromise with the corporate VP of technology on this. (We're talking about $40,000 each, not including the lens.) So, to make a point, Hank (the corporate guy) bought the cameras that Mark (my predecessor) wanted, then promptly gave them to another station in the group and gave Mark the cheapest cameras available at the time which would work in the application.

We've been suffering their quirks for over a decade.

Since I'm the kind of guy who is able to distinguish between "not a piece of ****" and "just utterly extravagant," and can actually listen to reason, we're now up to 21 brand new (within the past two years) studio-grade Sony HXC-P70s (about $11k each, and they work like a camera costing twice as much) with lenses on them that cost more than the camera itself.

Yeah, baby.

(Sorry for potatophone. It was dark in Studio 3 when I took that.)

Unless you count my three separate stints with Harris (13 years total) as a single job, yeah, you've got me beat by a lot.

Yeah, you've got me beat by a bunch. I've only been with my current company for 18 years this month. I'm the new guy. The other salesman in Tampa has been there since 1983.

Last week I was doing an expo in Daytona Beach. Here's a Kaiser S-2 Gator after I parked it in front of the convention center. This machine is manufactured in Liechtenstein. It will traverse canals and ditches with 6ft of water in them if required.

I've always thought it was a sham to pay sales tax. the end.

let alone a 4.15% sales tax when you buy a used car -- that they value greater than your actual purchase price.

let alone paying $4.57 for each $100 of assessed value in property taxes each year on the car.

every. last. penny.

For the purposes of the Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax collection, gross sales price includes the dealer processing fee. The gross sales price is the vehicle price after the manufacturers' rebates or manufacturers' incentives. Gross sales price does not include any other price reductions, such as credit for trade-ins, unpaid liens or other unpaid credits.

Yep, you win!

Here I thought I was doing pretty good with 23 years in. I do have shoes older than some of our newer employees...

This moron claims in the description that his brake fluid overheated and the brakes failed. Please watch the video and be sure to straighten him out in the comments.

Hard to tell from just that photo. How old is she, and are you cousins by blood or by marriage?

Brakes don't work on grass, so I guess he's partially right, lol.

It looks like he got lost on the track. I could see how a noob would get confused. Even with the potato cam you can see the black marks off to the right and it could be confusing.

<- has no track driving experience whatsoever.
