That saturation reminds me of my old Pentax K10, unless shooting RAW, the images came straight out of the camera quite oversaturated.

I think the composition of the deer is improved when made into a square medium format.

I've noticed that over the years of taking pictures, I started off favoring high saturation and contrast, and slowly I've grown to favor the look of natural or lower saturation images, with slightly less contrast. High saturation not only looks unnatural, but it also takes away from detail in the image. It's amazing rolling back the saturation and seeing details revealed that you couldn't see before.

They were shot in RAW. Only a very little saturation was added in a few of the shots. Considering how green and sunny it was, the colors, to my eyes, look accurate to what I was actually experiencing.

If you look at the wood and ground and leaves you can see they are NOT oversaturated. I think the color of the fur of the doe is throwing you off--it was almost orange.

The one that was in question had no saturation or vibrance added at all. It was pretty much cropped, sharpened, and uploaded. It was shot at 4pm in direct sunlight and the grass was honestly glowing green like that in the sun, same with this shot:

here's one I did oversaturate on purpose:

notice the wood pile.

I think the real issue was the white balance, where it was way too blue. I warmed it up and desaturated it just a touch:

better?

I work in vibration these days doing primary level accelerometer standard calibrations. I intend to punch a hole in a piece of steel sheet this week and do this:

I like it when it takes a second for me to understand license plates.
