RAVE: Just bought a new DD
Flying out to St. Louis Sunday to pick it up.
08 BMW 335i, CPO, 24K miles, warranty to 100,000 or 4/30/14. I'll hit the miles first. Going to be nice not having to drive the truck on sales calls any longer. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false |
Buddy has one. They are fantastic. Feels like a v8 when you're throttle happy and sips gas (nearly 30mpg) when you're light with it.
Expensive as hell to mod but I'm sure you know that. |
why the autotragic? I know its a daily, but don't forget its still a rwd boosted v6!
|
I have already told myself "no modding, no modding, I have to finish the V8 car."
That said, I would love to see the checkbook racers' heads explode on the e90 forum when someone started DIY building the mods. "You can't do that! You have to buy from xxx company. You are going to die upside down in a fire if you try to do that on your own!" |

I put 35K on a car a year and even at $28K is was a borderline bad idea as it will be at 150K in four years. |
a buddy of mine has one and his license is now on probation. way too easy to go very fast without realizing it.
|
the autos in those things are pretty badass. not your typical slow shifting slushbox. so very fast that you'll forget you're not driving a manual.
downpipes+tune= 350 +/- of both whp and wtq. |

http://www.bimmerworld.com/ The downside, of course, is that those parts are pricey. |
Fantastic purchase. I'm sure you did your homework but does it have the latest software update that makes it putter around in an attempt to quiet the wastegate noise? If not don't upgrade. And be careful of the fuel pumps. The local bmw cca guys completely denounce the n54 for the premature fuel pump failure. |

You'll be fine. It's a great car. Just change the gear, diff and the motor oil because two have never been changed and the other has only been changed once. And buy an x50 and and a zr4- it'll be cheaper than the tickets you'll get. |

Nice DD indeed!
Let me drive my new Bimmer to my private island... |

The way I understand it, all scheduled maintenance is covered including fluids for 4 years / 50K. I have until 4/30/12 on the factory warranty. I have yet to see an owners / service manual to see what the intervals are.

My coworker's wife has a 335 and they will not change the oil until the computer in the car suggests it. The car has 18,000 miles and it's on it's factory oil, lol.
