A French/British electric turbocharger! I see that working very well. Hopefully they have consulted with Lucas on this.

UH...."draws 350 A when it is used for acceleration, 220A when operating in steady state, and only 1.5 A when the engine idles."

"And 0 to 100 kph times went from 10.9 to 13 sec, a 17% improvement" Yup, that's how it works.

Well, I don't know if it's aimed at a crowd like us, Rharris. If what they claim is accurate...

...Researchers also put the electric supercharger on a 1.4-liter engine, which gave it the performance of a 1.6 liter engine but with less fuel consumption (6.4 liters per 100 km instead of 7.3-litters per 100 km).
An increase in power and improved fuel consumption aren't exactly something to sneeze at, y'know?

350 amps, damn. Ya know I was reading about how cars should have switched over to a 42v system by now, but haven't because of cost and some other bull. It is a great idea.

This is an instance where a car with a 42v electrical system would be awesome.

Kinda like a 4,000 watt amp in your car drawing current!

why waste money on this when you could just eat a ton of shitty mexican food, then plumb a hose from your ass to the manifold. I'll bet more positive pressure will be built that way for sure

My most recent car & driver magazine talks about this. Apparently BMW is going to use it in their next gen M3. It'll have two conventional turbos and an electric one.
