I was only trying to help. I hate seeing someone looking for performance in large plug wires, big exhaust, spoilers, and intake modifications.

I took a rare drive in my car the other day. I was going to the computer store and decided to put my camcorder on the rollbar and shoot some footage. When I got to the store one of the guys working there saw my camera and asked what I was doing. I started talking to him about racing and stuff and he said he wanted to race me the next time I went to the track. I said I sucked and threw out a time of 9.0 for the 1/8 mile. He said he could hang with me. After a while I left the store and asked him if he wanted to see the car. He followed me out and I showed him around (turbo, WI, lightness). He said "wanna see my car"? I followed him over to a Honda that had the biggest exhaust I have ever seen in person. He popped the hood and showed me his $30 Autozone intake and said JDM when pointing to his engine. I just don't get it. Does he think his "stock" Honda can hang with a 1900 pound 220HP Miata? Do these guys have brain damage or some sort of a genetic defect?

do you know anything about honda? are you sure its a single cam stock? because there is a non turbo b20 v-tec swap in a civic hatch here that none of my turbo miata friends here can even catch....yeah he's got a homemade intake and big loud ass exhaust....honda can be pretty damn quick without a turbo..or nos...the miata (HERE) aint slow either....faster then you...just race him if your not a pussy hehehe... thats the only way to find out...

b20 vtec so an ls/vtec engine? Cuz ls/vtec's and ls/vtec low boost eg/ek's are still nothing to my 11psi miata. No stock honda product other than the nsx and (k series swaps) are hanging in a drag race.

Hit the nail square on the head there Son. Kids these days have worse than brain damage. I'm with you, I don't get it. Almost every vehicle I've ever owned has been a 4 or 6 cylinder, well had a 5 cylinder benz once too... I understand performance, I enjoy building engines, and get a kick out of working on almost anything. When it comes to hondas, or toyotas, whatever their poison.. Just doesn't make sense to me.

My best friend and I have totally busted our ass's building up his 1994 miata. With something like 210k miles on it with an M45, non intercooled, 8psi pulley, bandaidftw fuel and spark control, stock clutch, ebay header, FM cat, 2" borla catback. Dynoed 160rwhp! Total project investment minus catback which came on the car along with the car itself is something like $550.00. Some kid in his "girlfriends" CRX wanted to run us, thing was smoking black like hell so I figured it'd either be an easy kill or it'd blow us away -- Both have happened before. To my surprise, from the launch the Miata got the win because the CRX was too busy spinning his 160mm front tires through three gears. When he finally got traction the two cars were dead even. From a roll, dead even. I gave them massive props because I thought it was cool to see. B18 GSR engine, header, retched sounding exhaust. They seemed equally impressed about the performance of the Miata and was quite surprised.

We shook hands and went our separate ways after talking for several hours about future plans. Few weeks later I see one of the kids coming up to talk to me.. Claims he heard "my boy" is running around saying hes running 12s at heartland park. I called him on my phone and he laughed, "No my car runs 14s." Then the kid starts claiming that this "stock motored CRX put 2 cars on him, blah blah blah." Needless to say this escalated into a fist fight that he lost and ended up in jail over. This was the weekend I first got my 95 up and running again, and he comes over talking shit totally unprovoked by anyone but his own shrill little ego over basically losing against a miata with basically less financial investment than his precious engine that he probably stole from someone anyway.

That story seems maybe offtopic, but I'm just posting an example of the brain damaged or possible defective mental state of young people and their Hoooooooooundas. Personally this is how I look at it.. Your crx might have beat us, and you might've done that with blah blah blah.. But In the end, I'm sorry to say you've still got a rusted, broke ass piece of shit thats good for only one thing now. :td: Sounds like a lose lose situation to me?

Maybe I'm a little out of line with my assumptions, observations and opinions with this matter but I know for a fact that I'm not the only one tired of this shit. An economy car + APC + worst designed and sounding exhaust system ever ! fucking = performance vehicle... ESPECIALLY IN FWD configuration! Does anyone here know what FWD was designed for??? ECONOMY!

Wouldn't need a big holset ... some of the ignorance out here/there is amusing. (not pointed at you Slo, I've almost had a few holsets in my hands to use on my beater/turbo civic)

The crvtech on a t3/t4 at 5psi in an eg ran 13.9 at the track and lost to me..

And ya a big ass holset ls/vtec at 8psi would likely be close to 300hp but stock ls/vtecs arent shit and if it was anything like the crvtech setup I dont think he would hand me my ass at all, like I said low boost (I guess I should have been more specific about low boost, and added not low boost on a huge turbo lol) but w/evs I have respect for turbo hondas but they arent the holy grail.

You probably ran against someone who claimed a b20vtec with an ebay turbo kit and/or didn't know how to drive worth a damn. I run mid 13s on 185 all seasons with my 1.6l turbo civic, with aweful runs...

Hondas aren't the holy grail, but the motors are amazing considering their cost/performance ratio (when u aren't buying namebrand junk). Fuel sippers to big HP (consider the size, don't do any lsx quoting :p) builds, they are quite impressive motors.

As much fun as I plan to have with my miata, I wish the head flowed better and didn't have a crappyish oil pump gearset, and etc... I'm still building the car up, so I'm not completely honda biased :p

Nope bonified crvtech, not positive abou the turbo kit though, and I dont know if he has an lsd tranny, on slicks with an open diff a jdm b16 t3 at 10psi(dyno at 200whp at 7psi) crx was running 14 flat with a 102-04 mph and bad driving lol.

And owning a jdm b16 ek, I know exactly how you feel about the engine/ heads, my miata smokes the civic but I have a soft spot for vtech and the smile it gives me ;)

B20's are generally CRV motors.... most people who do that swap usually do B16 head with B20 bottom block, considered a "poor man's" type R, because it really does make that kind of power, with a little more weight in the engine....

as for low boost... there have been some doing 300HP+ at the same setup on a honda.... i've seen an ls/vtec fully built do high 12's at the drag strip lol.... All motor too

i dont know what's worse, a b16 making 200whp at 10psi or a crx with 200whp running 14.0's at 104.

I've had 3 boosted hondas and helped turbocharge a bunch more of my friends and they're nothing to scoff at. My last turbo hatch was ~200whp and got 38mpg in the city boosting everywhere. I'm happy when I get 22mpg in the city with the miata.

Eh, our autox isn't that great. Better than Omaha. We use Arrowhead stadiums parking lot, which is absolutely freaking huge, but the cement isn't perfect. Works pretty good though. No reason, just calling his bullshizzle out. :bigtu:
