Default Jumped out of an airplane this weekend...

And it was awesome! If you've ever questioned if you should go or not, you should definitely jump! I jumped tandem this time but now I'm ready to go back and start working on my license.

Here's a few pictures and a video:

We jumped from 14,000 feet. At that altitude the only thing that really lets you know that you're falling is the air rushing past you (it gets really quiet when the chute opens). Otherwise you're just looking down at the earth.

Don't have one. Guess that's my own fault.

Reminds me of a time a few years back when I was driving to VT from Fredericksburg VA, heading through Orange where there is a skydiving school. It was summer time in the middle of the day. I had the top down on the miata and could see a bunch of people that had just pulled chutes and were coming in for a landing. Then I noticed one of their chute did not deploy correctly and the person was tumbling and twisting out of control. They impacted the earth at what I can only imagine was an incredible speed....I never heard what happened to the person though.

Anyways, looks like fun!

Good ****. Why I haven't gone yet I don't know. Been meaning to for years, I have a cousin I could jump with. Glad you enjoyed it. I don't see how anyone couldn't enjoy something that bad *** and exciting.

Normally tandem is $179, but we booked on a weekend where it's $20 off per person, so $159. The pictures and video was an extra $89, but it's worth it to have.

That would really suck... but nothing comes without risk. Some things more than others.

Wirelessly posted

I'd like to try it once but I've heard there is a weight limit for tandem jumps. I'm close to 200 lbs. Anybody know if I'd be good to go?

No doubt. Not trying detracting from your fun. I myself still want to go someday even after witnessing that in person. It was just one of the more humbling experiences in my life. Another huge one was vacationing in Colorado shortly after those massive forest fires around Durango like 6 years ago. When you see hundreds of miles of mountains covered in what look like burnt match sticks you all the sudden feel really small compared to the force that fire possesses. Similar to how small you must feel when free falling to the earth from 14k ft.

I jumped twice when I was really young, like 10 or something. Conned my dad into jumping too that day. I wasn't as scared as he was

The one part I didn't like that much was sitting in the dooropening of the plane at 9000 ft. and just tumbling forward towards the ground. The chute opening wasn't the most pleasant feeling either

Don't think I'd do it again though.

He and my instructor definitely worked well together. They had a plan before we even jumped of what they wanted to do and where to land. He said he'd film any of my other jumps too.

The limit normally seems to be 225 lbs anywhere I've seen, you'd probably have to check with wherever you're looking to go. Each place is a little different from another.

No, I know you weren't. As long as everything is going properly, it's actually a pretty peaceful feeling, almost surreal. But you do realize the scale size of things.

lol You can see in the video where my instructor had to pull my head back. I was having too much fun looking down.

I jumped a couple years ago but it was a static line jump from about 4k feet. It was fun hanging under the wing of the airplane, but letting go took some effort. And then it was a peaceful glide down.

Some of the instructors there that day wouldn't pull until the last second and then they'd ski across the grass for 100 feet when they came down. Pretty damn awesome!

^^This

I actually wore my MT.Net T-shirt last time I went to jump. Was going to get pics and post them up. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. We were literally walking to the airplane when they got a weather call and shut down operations. 20 minutes later, I was driving through hail with about a 100 foot field of vision because of the rain.

Damn
