So my wife is on board, albeit in a passive-aggressive resignation sorta way.

Stephanie at Bell has helped me mod out an S1 kit.
Delete:FMU/IC/Piping/Ceramic coating/Aircleaner
Upgrade:Turbo ($150 UG, assuming that's the 2560 not the 2870)
total works out to about $1900, which gives me the mani/dp/turbo/ss oil & water lines/heater hose reroute/odds and ends.

I'm halfway tempted to delete the turbo and find an ebay special, since my previous dumpster-diving turbo project didn't have a fancy bb turbo.

Allocating $200 each for clutch, radiator and ebay IC, $400 for MS/LC1, plus another couple hundred for other bits and pieces (turbo gauge, DIY exhaust, injectors, shipping) gets me slightly north of $3000.

Looking to make it rock solid track reliable, retain decent resale if I go back to stock, and keep engineering to a minimum.

NOW! All that said, where can I shave dollars?

It's not going to kill me to have this cost $3000, buuuuut every dollar spent leaves less for other things, like track days.

your over estimating your radiator (godspeed 160) and IC (100), thats 140 so far, if the exhaust is diy, then you should be able to squeak under 200 for the injectors, gauge and pipe, lets say 160. there i saved you $200 Moneywise i think that the begi stuff is killing you in the wallet, but you are getting quality. i'm sure someone will come on here and bust my chops over something.

You aren't overestimating the IC at all. In fact, if you can do pipes for $120 (cores are around $80), I'd be amazed. It took $200+ to do my pipes alone.

$200 for the clutch is a low amount of money. If you want a reliable track machine, I don't know if you want to try an eBay clutch. Just jump into an ACT HD with a street disc for around $300. It WILL hold the power, and you will NEVER have to dick with it.

the LC-1s are about $190 shipped, so where are you doing MS for $210? Building it yourself?

You need to allocate about $250 for an oil cooler setup as well. You will need it. I would also recommend an oil temp gauge and a wideband gauge, which is another $200. It brings the costs of the project up, but you can't put a price on knowledge.

The ebay kits come with IC, pipe, clamps, and couplers. I'll need to put new beads on the pipes when I cut them, but otherwise they should suffice.

Yes, going to build my own MS.

Already have an oiltemp gauge, and will likely fab up a simple LED bar graph for the WB display.

Sucks that clutch is $300, I made a WAG.

I've been hoping to put off the oil cooler, just because of the complexity, but I'll take your word for it.

I'm pretty sure kyle is pretty handy with a tig torch. His pipes will be pretty cost effective. Minimum couplers and clamps IOW. Unless i'm confusing him with someone else.
Sounds like a plan to me man.

i wouldn't buy the ebay kit if i were you. you will have to rebuy almost everything....mani, downpipe, oil lines, bolts, all the oil and water fittings, the shop gave up on my piping said i have to buy more ic pipe. hehe.. the turbo is alright... just don't buy it...if you dont want to feel like a loser like me...hehehe..

Maybe get rid of the turbo upgrade and stick with the 2554. While not speaking from 1st hand experience, it seems that there are quite a few members here who don't feel it is a worthwhile upgrade to move up to a 2560. It's almost like you should stay with the 2554 to save the $150 or take a bigger step up to the 2870.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback.

I checked out the 2554 and 2560 maps yesterday, and I could really see the 2554 being somewhat out of its league at 23#/hr and 2PR. The 2560 is more efficient, and the sweet spot is right at 23/2.

A 2870 has got to be way too big for a DD/track car, 250HP max.

If I got an Ebay T25, will BEGis lines and DP work properly? That's most of my reason to go with a Bell kit - keep it all bolt-in.

Otherwise it's a slippery slope right down to homemade mani/DP.

It should bolt right up. It's a pretty standard exhaust housing.

The nice thing about BEGi is you can ship them the turbo and say "use this turbo please." and they will verify that it fits, or adjust (I am sure for a slight fee*) the piping to work with it. This is the great thing about BEGi, they will build just about anything. The Ebay T25 should fit, but sending it to BEGi for confirmation is just the smart way to do it. Any problems can be resolved before they ship the kit.

* - I believe BEGi charges somewhere around $100 an hour for additional labor but they get a lot done in a short amount of time. If it bolts right up, I would expect no labor charges.
